Newbie to gaming PC - how does this spec look

Hi any feedback would be welcome, it comes in at £1170 which is upper limit of budget.

Only unusual feature is I don’t want WiFi or Bluetooth. Ethernet cable here at home and a wired controller.

Also if it’s relevant it is just for gaming and it’s going to a 1080 HD Sony Bravia tv.

To be honest i'd swap the 3600x for the 3600 and the 1660ti for the 1660s.

You'll also want a better power supply, faster m.2 drive instead of the sata ssd and 16gb of faster RAM.

What did the above come too and whats your max budget?

Threw in a 1tb hdd and faster m.2 drive (could get 1 bigger m.2)

The x570 motherboard will allow you to upgrade the cpu, and m.2 to pcie4 and the power supply should be plenty for a gpu upgrade.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I didn’t know what an m2 drive was, i’ve put the whole 1tb on m2 now, presume that’s faster and dropped the traditional hard disk. Popped the mouse and keyboard back on. Gave warning the power supply is oversized, it does say it’s quiet which is a plus though. All still about the same price.

So given the budget, for a wired only gaming pc does this look ok now?

Looks perfect, just worth adding, there's no wifi configured? If you need wifi, the second one in the list is the best, it's only £18

Whilst the PSU is overpowered, that's not a bad thing at all because it will allow for a decent GPU upgrade when you need to (after about 3 years). It does no harm having an overpowered PSU.

The power supply is more than you need, however its better quality, semi-modular so less wires, means better thermals and allows upgrading to newer graphics cards.

Does it come preinstalled with windows?

Do I need to download drivers online from another PC (put on a USB) and install them?

Does the HDMI lead carry the sound as well as the video as my amplifier takes the HDMI input before splitting off to the TV and surround sound speakers.

Any thoughts on my plan to find a 4 meter HDMI lead?

No. Because you bought it with Windows installed all drivers etc. will already be installed.

If you order with windows, windows will be fully installed and all drivers configured. It will be at the setup page so you set up your user account, but other than that it's ready to go.

Drivers in Windows 10 work very differently and are installed through windows update automatically. But as above, you won't need to install anything as it will all be preconfigured.

Yes, HDMI carries audio.

If you're carrying audio through an amp, it's worth getting a decent quality cable. 4 meters shouldn't be a problem although will be pricey.

512GB gives you space for a fair few games and their save files. I think the only thing I'd be careful of is how often you swap games out - if you change titles every couple of weeks then you might run down the write endurance of an SSD pretty quickly. On the other hand if you like games you can plough hundreds of hours into and don't want to keep a huge music/photo library on the PC then I think 512GB should be fine.

At any rate, if you change your mind you can always buy an extra drive later.

This isn't a concern with modern SSD's, their write cycles are in line with HDD's, you don't have to worry about them "wearing down".
