New to Gaming PC purchase

I am completely new to the world of gaming PC as a long term Apple user myself, but am buying for my 14 year old.
He currently plays Minecraft (Java), Subnautica (Steam on Mac), Tradelands (Roblox on Mac), Hogwarts Legacy (Switch). In the future he is interested in Subnautica2, Sea of Thieves and similar. We are looking for a spec which will last him for as long as possible. We plan to share the monitor with the Mac Mini at first;

Hello, there is no way to get a suitable gaming PC for £1,000.

For reference, a 1080p system costs roughly £1700, a 1440p system costs around £2100, and a 4K system costs more than £2600.

That’s surprising because that spec was created following PC Specialists ‘Create your own gaming PC’ guide and certainly wasn’t the lowest spec possible.
Is anyone able to advise more specifically what the weaknesses are in that spec please?

Sure!

Case: Unknown/low-quality brand
CPU: old-generation, non-gaming CPU (minor issue).
MB: very low-end mATX model; unsuitable for gaming purposes.
RAM: one stick, low frequency, low-quality/unreliable brand.
GPU: Three-generation old card, unsuitable for gaming due to low VRAM and specs (the worst NVIDIA ever).
SSDs: unknown/unreliable OS drive; worthless HDD for games (modern games require NVME drives).
PSU: extremely low quality, old ATX 2.4 with no room for upgrades.
Cooler: unknown/unreliable brand; unsuitable for such level of CPU.
Antivirus: Norton is a malware.
Warranty: Six months is the same as having no warranty.

Here are the min specs from the previous generation that are worth something. Anything less isn't worth the money.
