Hi guys,

Looking for spec advice. Budget is £1500 or slightly less and am looking for a multi purpose Gaming PC. Are the below specs sensible or am I over/under selecting on a couple of items? Gone for the 3070 for the shorter wait time than the 3060ti.

Monitor - Looking to upgrade also. Thinking 1440p to make the most of the Graphics card and 144Hz and 24/27 inch. Budget probably up to £300.
Uses - Will be predominantly gaming with a little bit of video editing.
Budget - £1.5kish excluding monitor

I think you need to have a read here first:

Certainly the link in there re AMD v Intel :D

Didnt know about the Intel Versus AMD piece and last specced something up pre 2014 so thats interesting. Am looking to avoid the delays as much as possible so any recommendations for the right processor appreciated.

EDIT: I have updated the spec in original post to AMD

With a 3070 build, I've had to go over budget to about £1,625 and there's still a few things I'd upgrade

-I've changed the Case to the PCS Spectrum as the 175R isn't the best for airflow (if you have more budget I'd recommend upgrading to a Corsair 4000D or 220T as the fans have been reported to be a little loud on the Spectrum)
-Reduced to the B550 to save money but will still do the job perfectly
-Increased the speed of the ram to 3200 as AMD loves fast ram
-Changed your storage to a 1TB SSD for your Windows OS, programs and games and a 2TB for file storage (if you think 512gb will be enough you could save a little here by swapping to the 512gb)
-Upgraded the PSU to a 750W RMx
-Upgraded the cooler to a Cooler Master Master Liquid 240 (the stock cooler will just about be okay if you want to save some money. If it's selected I'd recommend upgrading to an AIO at some point down the line to improve temps and add 2 more fans)
-Changed the Wifi card for one that will support faster bandwith and includes bluetooth
-Removed the anti-virus software as it's known to cause issues
-Added the silver warranty as it's worth it for £5

If you have an old PC that you don't think you'll need, you can take the copy of Windows from it and transfer it to this PC. That would free up a lot of budget that could either be saved, or spent elsewhere.

Monitor wise, I've got a few recommendations for 1440p 144hz. The Samsung G5 is a popular favourite of the PCS forum but that said, the AOC Q27G2U/BK (or curved CQ27G2U/BK) seem to beat it in this comparison . So if you're okay with the red, it seems like a pretty good choice! The Samsung and flat AOC are both £300 but interestingly the curved AOC can be found for £280. There was also a recent thread discussion about monitors that fit your specs here that might be worth checking out!

Thanks Junior. Those changes sound sensible and think I will go for the 4000D case as I prefer the look.

No worries, you're welcome! I'd also recommend adding an extra case fan or 2 (I think 1 is £6 and 2 is £9) as the 4000D only has 2 fans as standard
