New PC Spec Check

Hi guys,

I am just starting the process of configuring my new PC which I hope to purchase in the next couple of weeks. I have to admit, I am new to this and not 100% sure what I am doing but I am slowly figuring it out.

Here are my specs. I intend to use my PC for photo editing, video editing, content creation and a bit of gaming. My monitor is a BenQ PD2705UA 27 inch 4k Monitor. Are there any components I need to change or add and have I made any mistakes?

What's the budget? What kind of games? Are you aware that that is a 60Hz display and not great for gaming?

I agree about the monitor, however the games I enjoy are older ones such as Diablo 2 and 3 and Grim Dawn so it doesn't matter to much at the moment. Also, I might look at upgrading it in the near future. My main focus is going to be video editing, photo editing, digital drawing and maybe some 3D work as well. My max budget is about £2500-2600.

That makes perfect sense: I just wanted to make sure you were aware and weren't expecting competitive-level performance from the display.

My main concern with this setup is the graphics card. An AMD card is good for gaming, but in creative contexts (especially video editing and I believe 3D work), it is substantially behind an Nvidia card. If those are significant use-cases, I would go with an Nvidia alternative. For that reason, I'd also wait until the new Nvidia cards come out next month. I'd probably want the 5070 Ti for this system, because it's the lowest Nvidia card with 16GB of VRAM. That will probably come in at around £800, so I'd plan this build with that addition:

I think it's fine and it's what I'd go for if I absolutely 100% had to order now but the 5070 Ti literally comes out in a month, so I'd wait for that. (Or order the PC, use it without a graphics card for the next month, then add the card when it is released.)

Just to follow on from this, you can use the embedded graphics on the CPU, so you'll have full use until you get the GPU, then just the added power and gaming with the GPU
