New PC Issue

Hi all,

I purchased a PC from PCS in December and I am experiencing a lag issue that occurs randomly, across different games (shooters/MMOs). Essentially, everything freezes, clicks don't register and then everything speeds up into place. Not noticed any issues on other applications or browsing etc.

My old PC was about 7 years old and struggled to actually launch newer games, but when playing didn't have this issue.

I have checked my drivers, updated Windows and my graphics card but not entirely sure what else to look at. My specs are below. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, sorry to hear you're having issues. Has this been an issue since you purchased the PC [ie since December]?

Couple of things to try:
  • Reduce settings on affected games - check if situation improves.
  • Remove any unnecessary USB devices [perhaps weird I know, but I had a situation recently where a USB extender was causing Diablo IV to repeatedly lag, removed it and issue went away] - check if situation improves
  • Clean GPU Driver Install - Use something like DDU [https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/] to remove your display driver and re-install.
  • Nuclear option - reinstall windows see how that fairs <-- Obviously I wouldn't suggest you try this first necessarily.
  • There's also the option of returning the PC to PCS for a Warranty Repair.
I'm sure other members here will have other things to suggest too.
