New PC issue with red lights, beeping and power problem

Hi, after some help if possible. Beginning to feel really deflated and disappointed with buiying this pc experience. After already some issues a my new PC has just arrived plugged it all in and would not start properly and no signal to monitor. After doing a google pc seemed to boot loop. Really loud fans and shutting itself down. Pc specialist said would need to wait for a replacement kettle lead before can diagnose any further after a few basic tests. Had a look myself and seems the 8 pin connector labelled cpu going into the motherboard on the top left was loose and will not create a secure connnection. I noticed right next to it on the right was another slot the connector could go in so tried that and it booted and got to install Windows (also now have an issue the settings app won’t load on windows). It still seems not an overly secure connection on the right hand side connection but it does boot. However wen it does boot I get a load of loud beeping and then a flashing red light on the tower which won’t go away. Spent a lot of money for me just under 3k on this pc and just keep running into issues. Any help would be appreciated it.

Before you do anything further, what are the full specs of the PC from your order page?

I would leave it powered off until we figure out what input on the board the CPU 8 pin needs to go into. Motherboards usually only have 1 cpu input, putting it into another socket may well damage the CPU and or motherboard.

Ah, now I see it (again).

It's not unheard of for stuff to come loose in transit - it shouldn't of course, but it does.

It probably wasn't wise to go plugging stuff in elsewhere without guidance, but it's done now. Fingers crossed.

Sending a new kettle lead is a bit of a surprise, but if PCS know they've been having issues with them then that makes sense.

I strongly second SpyderTracks' advice to leave it powered off and not to mess with it until instructed by PCS. My personal advice now would be to listen only to what PCS themselves tell you to do. The people on here are hugely experienced of course, but PCS are the builders...

Hi, thank you for the reply. The motherboard is a, gigabyte z390 aorus master. reading up they have 2 x 8 pin connectors so I tried it in the other one but still having issues. Taken the advice to call pc specialist and not use the PC, many thanks

Boards with 2 x 8-pin connectors usually only require both plugged in if you have a heavy overclock as it spreads the load better on the z390 chipset. It should be fine for it to be plugged into either based on my current build experience with a MSI MEG board.

In that case it sounds like the other input (the one it was originally plugged into) may be damaged in some way.

If I were you, I'd get that straight back to PCS, even if you do get it working as it currently is, if that port's damaged, it could have been damaged in transit, and there's no telling if anything else may have been affected at the same time. Best to get it thoroughly looked at and perhaps a mobo replacement.
