Main Focus is long gaming at high-ultra settings at 1440p an above (my monitor is 4k capable). Main concern is will it stay cool without me having to go down the road of liquid cooling or is that unavoidable seeing as I'd be running it for long periods on weekends.

Secondly I've read multiple articles about onboard sound vs a soundcard be interested in a few opinions as to if i should bother or not budget does allow currently sitting at £2988 cost my budget is £3500.

If everything seems good is it worth stepping up the GPU to the RX 7900 XTX and if i did where would i stand on my main concern of cooling?

I would advise that 1440p gaming would be unwise on a 4k monitor. It simply doesn't look right and can give a screen door effect at times. Better to run at 4k. I think the XTX is worth it with this use case in mind.

I've made some changes below. Note that I've removed the Seagate drive as I just can't bring myself to add it to something I would recommend. If you really think this is the best solution for you then feel free to add it back in but I would absolutely spend the money on cloud storage with a redundancy rather than putting that significant amount of eggs in that single basket.

I was going for the deep cool processor cooler as not sure how i feel about water cooling what with possible leaks and maintenance and life span of them but the deep cool is currently out of stock. If it comes back in stock would the deep cool actually be enough or is water cooling the only option for heavy gaming??

The 7800X3D is pretty efficient. A good air cooler (like the DeepCool) is fine. A good AIO is also a really good option. In gaming there probably won't be a significant difference in performance.

That said, an AIO needs no maintenance and is very, very unlikely to leak. It is admittedly likely to fail before an air cooler because it's much more complex, but that lifespan may well be 7+ years, very conceivably more.

I ran one of the original H100i's in my system from 2014 to a couple of months ago and the PC was on 24/7

So that's 9 years continuous use, and the pc was in use 24/7 as other timezones accessed it while we were sleeping. I think the coolant evaporated, but tbh, I didn't really spend any particular effort troubleshooting as it was only to see me through a few months until I upgraded and I had a decent aircooler lying around.

Awesome thank you all for the advice looking at ordering back end of October so with any luck the Deepcool maybe back in stock if not guess I'd be happy with an AIO as the life span sounds ok and the no special maintenance needed is good news.

By October, prices will have changed and there may be new kit available, there are even talks of perhaps new CPU's around then.

The PC market is so volatile, both in pricing and in parts being released, it moves so quickly that your expectations of a system are only really valid for about a month, after that it may require re speccing as prices / parts lead to a more optimal configuration.

Thank you I know things move pretty quick when it comes to PC's. Thankfully I'm not looking to stay on the very edge of the latest tech so the system configuration I'm looking at now thanks to your guys advice will pretty much be what I'd be aiming for tho I'm aware i might need to make the odd change depending on prices and stock but for now if things do manage to hold roughly the same then I'll be happy.

Ok thanks to your guys help I'm settled on this any room for improvement case/cooling wise?

How does fan and cooler placement work do they build with optimal placement or just where ever it fit easiest?

Also moved up my ETA on ordering to next month rather than the end of October as I'm going nuts not been able to play my PC (old one broke hence the new upgrade)

Think the system has more than enough of a life span/room to upgrade only concern is cooling.

Unless you have a strong reason for preferring a Gigabyte board, I'd suggest you look at either the Tuf B550 or the Tuf X670E boards. The former is all you need and saves £100ish; the latter offers more than the Aorus (e.g. a PCIe 5.0x16 slot) and saves £13.

But otherwise it's hard to argue with anything in this build.

Thanks i was looking at the Tuf X670E but it only supports to SSD's hence why i went Gigabyte.

Thanks i was looking at the Tuf X670E but it only supports to SSD's hence why i went Gigabyte.
The TUF 670E supports 1 x PCIe 5, 2 x PCIe 4, and 1 x PCIe 3 for a total of 4 m.2 slots.

Asus website said:

Hmmm...looks like another configurator error...you would have to order it with 2 m.2s, and then call to add the 3rd.

Even the TUF B650-Plus gets you through the same m.2 config error, but then warns about losing a USB socket...which is strange as there's no such warning on the lower spec Prime B650.
