New PC build input and tips

Hi here, I'm new to the forums and I'm looking for some tips and input for this build i created (not yet ordered). The build is mainly for gaming , and I'm looking to not spend more than £2500 and would be more than happy to decrease the price further from what i selected.I don't think i will be performing any overclocking as I'm inexperienced and if i do it would probably just be small scale overclocking .The monitors which it will be used on is a 165 Hz 1440p screen and also 4k 60 Hz for extremely visual games.The choice of the surplus ram is for Microsoft flight sim and any other future games that might take up that much memory.

The key areas where I'm not sure is initially the motherboard selected , does it come with inbuilt Bluetooth and WiFi ( i selected a WiFi card as i wasn't sure),also does it lack any features which are key and might be present in other motherboards.

Secondly the overall choice of the CPU cooler , extra fan and case set up will it provide optimal cooling for the system.

Thirdly i also wanted to ask regarding i selected a semi modular psu since the modular was not in stock,all i know its something to do with inbuilt or not cables.

Finally I wondered does setting certain partitions (C & D) on the O.S drive effect performance or could i even leave the nvme drive just being as one and install games along with the system.

Yes i’d either go 5000D Airflow and add extra fans or 5000X.

OP if you go 5000D, then you would be best off purchasing a single ML120/140 as a rear exhaust and install it yourself (it is super easy. Literally screw into your case and plug two cables into a controller).

Hi thanks for the reply's , i wouldn't mind switching to a AMD CPU line however the choice of the GPU i would want to stick with due to the 25 % difference in performance which i would prefer. Along side for storage i only require around the 1 tb range for system and games plus another 1tb for files.

The build above has 500GB for OS and a few other files and 1TB fast storage for games. You then have 2TB HDD for general storage (personally i don’t bother with HDD, as my PC only has games as a use.)

The 3080 will be bottlenecked by your screen. I get around 160fps with a 3070 on good 1440p settings on cod. Is the extra few hundred £ and a 5 month wait, really worth 5 frames?

The only change i’d really make, is the case. Other than that, it’s a solid system you’d be very happy with.

I change my storage by the addition of an SATA drive and wondered if PC specialist would still install windows on the 980 PRO.

Unless youve asked them to put it on teh SSD, it will go on the M.2 drive, for peace of mind, email them with your order number, and ask them to put the OS on the 500GB Samsung 980 Pro when it comes to building.

Hi I'm currently waiting and considering some changes to the build i been waiting around 60 days. My choice of GPU, CPU , motherboard and RAM I'm not looking to change (apart from possibly changing from 2 sticks to 4 however i heard there were issues with that combination of 3600 MHz).

The PC is mainly for gaming however where I'm not sure is the storage combination , 980 pro (OS) and then i though about having the 970 Evo plus 1Tb for main games and then putting a 870 EVO 1 TB for secondary games (not looking for any hard drives) . Apart from the storage wondered if choice of CPU radiator could/should be improved to a Corsair H150i RGB PRO XT ( or any 3 fan variant ). Finally i also considered changing the warranty from normal to silver.

Any help regarding the storage , cooling and ram sticks would be greatly appreciated

So looking through your post history it seems you have a 1440p 165hz and 4K 60hz displays. You were recommended to go for a 3070 and I agree with that, you’re spending extra and waiting longer on a GPU that will be bottlenecked by your monitors on the majority of titles.
MSFS was mentioned so sticking to 32GB of RAM is sound. For gaming there is little to no difference between the 3200mhz CL16 and 3600mhz CL18 RAM offered by PCS. I would opt for 3200mhz in your shoes and go for 4 sticks of 3200, which would give you the minor performance boost without the stability issues that 4 sticks of 3600mhz continues to have (general method to solve at the moment is lowering speed to 3444). The perk of 2 sticks is that you have the potential to upgrade to 64GB down the line, although it is unlikely you will need that unless you get into heavy rendering, editing etc.
I wouldn’t recommend the 1TB 970 out of the m.2 offerings from PCS. The Intel drive offers a similar performance at a lower price, and the PCS drive offers a very attractive value. There will be negligible difference in load times past 2000 MB/W.
For cooling the 5800x does run very hot so upgrading to a 360mm cooler is a good idea, not that the 280mm cooler won’t do the job, but if you have a case that can fit going for the biggest cooler you can fit for not a lot extra is well worth it in my opinion. Considering how much RGB you’ve packed into the build already I would probably recommend the Capellix over the RGB PRO XT.
For £5 upgrading to Silver warranty is well worth it, especially when you’re spending this much on a build.

Thanks for the detailed response i will be changing the M.2 as mentioned and changing the cooler. With the RAM i don't intend to upgrade past 32 GB , so wondered with the Ryzen 5000 series does having the 4 sticks of 3200 MHz lets say perform significantly different compared to 2 sticks of 3200 MHz. Also wanted to ask when i go onto my configurator the Silver Warranty the price of the upgrade is over £18 rather than the £5 , and the price is still £5 when i went onto a new build just to look if it was increased. Should i just contact PC specialist about this.

Opting for 4 sticks over 2 does give an improvement in some CPU limited scenarios, but based on the data above I would not class it as a significant difference, particularly in the settings you are using. The Ryzen 5000 chips are incredibly powerful and the only place they are the bottleneck is in 1080p high refresh gaming, barring a few exceptions.
Not sure why warranty is listing at £18. Anyone know why? Live Chat would be a good place to send your enquiry.

Not had any dealings with the 670p, however I've 3 of the PCS ones and they perform great

The 670p is the only Intel m.2 drive that is worth considering. It has better write endurance than the Corsair equivalent, but not as good as the Samsung 980 Pro. I am not aware of the write endurance of the PCS m.2 drive. The Intel 670p is faster than PCS, but it may not make much difference in the real world.

I'm currently waiting for my pc and wondered which additional drivers I will require after reinstalling windows when it gets here. I understand windows takes care of many of them however wondered if I should use a Software like driver easy again which solved an issue on my current pc which had a freezing issue which was fixed due to an outdated driver. The only drivers I can think that I will need is Nvidia ones. Is there any other core ones I need e.g network ones ?
