New PC Build - Gaming/Steaming.

Hi All,

I am trying to build a new PC mainly for Gaming and Streaming :)
I don't want to have to do any upgrades for a while ^_^
I am a fan of AMD therefore as per below specs my GPU and CPU will be AMD.

What I would like to Increase from what i cannot select from the pre setting quotation is as following:

Memory (RAM)
64GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 32GB)
Increase to
128GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz (4 x 32GB) (if this is not possible due to any compatibility issues, then 64 is fine)

Also to add an extra 120m Fan or two if there is any space left for mounting :) - If the PCS Team can advise on this would be much appreciated.

I know the Power Supply is a bit too much , I could go with a lower Watt , lets say 1000 - However, reason I have selected this one is that I know it will help the CPU and GPU from what I read and heard in many ways + like I have said I do not want to have to change/upgrade anything for the next couple of years. (and yes I am aware it will consume more electricity - however I am not bothered by this :) )

Monitors:
3 x 32" 2K (1x165Hrz Flat and 2x170Hrz Monitors Curved) - I want to Upgrade the Flat 2K to a 4K eventually :) the other two can stay as they are for the time being.

Got razer blackshark v2 pro 2023 - as Earphones :) - Also got the Razer Nari as well (i prefer the blackshark for gaming - The Nari are better for Music/Movies)

What is your maximum budget?

I'm curious as to the reasoning for 64GB RAM, much less 128GB....nothing you have mentioned requires either, unless you are playing heavily modded games? I play games in 4k and stream them at the same time and never come even close to using the 32GB I have in my system.

PSU: Choosing a higher level PSU makes no difference to electric usage...it will only draw as much as the system needs whether you have a 1600w one or a 750w one.

Capture card: Will you be streaming from a console? Or using 2 computers (one as a game machine, one as a streaming machine)? If neither of those, then you don't need the capture card...you just install OBS (or whatever software you want to use) and set it to capture whatever you need.

There are other areas that could be optimised: The 7800x3D is the best CPU to get and is fine for gaming and streaming (unless you are playing majorly intensive CPU games), the ultra fast primary drive will derive no benefit from gaming, avoid Samsungs for drives (they have had reliability issues over recent times); sound card isn't needed as on-board audio is excellent (sound cards are very much niche items these days).

If you go back to the post to forum page and include the "unique configurable URL" (in green) from the bottom, we can go in and adjust

Hi,

I don't really have a Maximum budget , however lets say 5K :D

I took out the Capture card as you have mentioned , I will not use any of the stated options and yes i could use OBS.
I also updated the SSD second drive as you mentioned as you are right I have read as well but it is always good to ask and have more opinions about it :).

The Ram memory , idk maybe just making sure that It has enough ram as I will have editing program on one screen and gaming on the other or something else doing on the other screen + I always have the 3rd screen open with either Trading or Work stuff.

Also about the modding/modded games, I do play sometimes or try to mod myself too (although they are older games) Also recently started to have a look at how to mod Dying Light 2 Maps, Hope this info helps :)

Which monitors is it you currently have? I would definitely look to upgrade if you are currently running in 1080p (2k). I'm wondering if you mean 1440p (2.5k by the naming convention, or 3K when rounding up). The naming conventions for 2k & 4k are wildly misplaced so I prefer to simply use the vertical reference for the type of screen (or whole resolution even) which saves any confusion.

Seem to be going for the bit much of a muchness approach for a lot of this build though. Below is more in line with what I would opt for, with the only change being the 7800X3D once it's available. With the RAM you won't need more than 32GB but at this level and with this budget 64GB is fair enough I suppose. Opting for 4 sticks isn't a good idea as the throughput falls off a cliff if you don't know how to tune the RAM manually. PCS won't do this for you as it can lead to instability.

I would argue that the technical assistance and install is a waste of time. It alarms me slightly that you would seemingly be buying a hugely complex and expensive technical item without having the basic understanding of operation and installation. To purchase all this kit but need someone to plug it in genuinely gives me the fear.

You have opted for a number of streaming options (deck & microphone, etc). Do you know how to use these components and what they bring to your daily usage? If you don't, I would suggest removing them as you're just going to create complexity rather than simplicity. A gaming headset would make more sense if it's for communication. The microphone and stream deck are more for overlay and after the fact editing.

However this PC I will give it as a Birthday present to my brother, therefore why I want to build myself a new one.

Haha ^_^ Regarding the "Technician Assisted Installation" - I think it would raise a question for anyone to be fair so I totally understand why you would question it :)
It is mostly for the WiFi Surf Control - I am not entirely sure how to fully set up my Wi-Fi with privacy , mostly for the young ones (you can find anything on the internet these day) + The data transfer I wanna put some questions mostly. Other than that I am fine :)

Since I can see everyone suggesting the Ryzen 7 - 7800X3D , wouldn't it be a better option to use Ryzen 9 - 7900X3D Instead? I'm just looking at it now and I see it has more MB catch from 104 > 140 and also from 8 Cores to 12 Cores.
Mind you now I just seen they have now in stock the Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16 Core that has 144 MB (this was the one I was aiming for previously however like mentioned it was not available "in stock" at the time of build this config)

Also,
On the Motherboard - Honestly I was looking between the two:
ASUS
ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI

Or
ASUS ProArt X670E-CREATOR WIFI
The only reason I chosen Strix over the Creator was because of PCIe 5 Port availability - If it wasn't for that i would have gone for the Creator. Advices still good to hear :)

Unfortunately the X3D chips aren't created equal. The 7800X3D has 8 cores with the vertical 3D cache. The 7900X3D only has 6 cores, the other chiplet won't be used for gaming, so it's at a disadvantage.

The 7950X3D has the full 8 core 3D cache chiplet and another 8 core non-3d Cache chiplet. This is overkill for your needs and also adds complexity as core parking is required when gaming. You don't want the games to use the non-3d cache chip so it needs configured and monitored to ensure you are getting the performance you expect. With the 8 core X3D chip none of this complexity needs considered.

For the motherboard, I can't imagine any scenario where either of those options will make any difference to you over the TUF X670. Like I said, there seems to be a much of a muchness approach to your selections. Choosing higher end parts without really knowing why is a waste of cash. It's your cash to waste of course, it's just against the grain of what would be sensible and recommended.

Anytime the regulars offer advice we always aim to future proof any spec. You don't get anything of note that will aid you in your uses now or down the line from over-spending on certain areas. The platform is the key, which you are choosing wisely with anyway.

Hi Scott,
After you explained it in the previous post , now I understand better why the 7800X3D the better choice rather than the 7950X3D.
I have done some research as well on this and I understand way better now what you referred with the hassle of checking often , although I have read on an article on AMD that they have fixed this issue and it should work properly now as in automatically select which cores to use and catch as long as you have the Bios updated, Newest Chipset AMD application along side with Xbox Game bar and have the Balanced power performance (Not High performance) as this will allow the CPU to park the cores automatically.
Now we all know since this is still fairly new (as in the CPU and new Chipset application) there will always be some problems eventually along the way (it's not always Pink you know ^_^ ).

At the moment I cannot select the 7800X3D as it is currently Unavailable unfortunately - therefore the updated build will have the 7950X3D for now as i will wait a bit more to see / update with other specifications :)

As for the Motherboard - Only reason I didn't selected the TUF was because my PC not even 2 months after I had it , the motherboard failed internally and had to be replaced - can call me skeptic at that but if one experience a problem , next time you would like to try something different for a little change :D

Please see re-config below :)

Even with all those settings properly configured, there can still be times where the correct cores aren't parked. The issue is far less of a problem now than it was on release, but it's still not perfect. You cannot update the BIOS without first getting permission from PCS, it's part of the warranty T&C's, so be mindful if you're looking to update or change the BIOS.

On the motherboard, if you have concerns over the model I would suggest it would be more applicable to ASUS than to the TUF spec board. They are all different so one TUF board isn't the same as another TUF board. No issue with your board selection of course, it's a great bit of kit..... it's just a lot of money to spend un-necessarily.

I would remove the Arctic paste, the Corsair coolers come with pre-applied good paste. I wouldn't recommend having an additional application.

I would also remove Norton. It causes nothing but hassle.

Thanks Scott,

That's' why I will wait a bit until the 7800x3D will be available :)
Though I wasn't sure about the Bios and warranty part - it is best to not mess with that warranty as that's why I build it from here and go for Premium warranty as I had previously had problems with parts that it turned up to be problem from the manufacturer therefore on the bright side I got them replaced by warranty :)

I understand and I really appreciate your time and effort for this as I can see you are passionate and know your stuff way better than it shows, it is of a really great help and reason why I opened this thread was to get advices as such.

Noted about the paste :)

Haha , no way I will have Norton lmao, it just keep popping up back there, same for always auto changing from Win11Pro to home idk why , but of course once I place the order I will check carefully :)

Thanks
Kind Regards
Alex
