new pc advice

I need to buy a new PC and was looking for advice please, apologies for the lengthy post.

My current PC runs well but is massively restricted to what games I can run, quality of watching movies/streams could be better but i bought this pc about 12+ years ago getting the best chip i could and building it up over time with extra ram, better gfx card and psu. It's been excellent value for money but I feel it’s time for an upgrade on it (plus if i dont spend the money ive saved it will get used on something else id rather not spend it on).

My budget is £1800 but able to go a little over, absolute max £2000.

I went with the case below as I like the look of it, black and plain but also that its meant to be very quiet. I have seen the Lian Li Lancool 215 gaming case mentioned a lot, and it’s a good bit cheaper. Am I worth paying the extra for the Define 7 case?

Is that the best gfx card for that price?

Do I need the graphics card support bracket? In my current pc my gfx card ‘sags’ so to speak but its not an issue.

I went with the PSU as I seen a post that said that PSU with the Case will be a quiet pc, I want a quiet pc (with little or no flashing lights) as my pc is in my living room. When I click proceed im advised I only need a 550w psu, is the PSU overkill?

I know little about coolers so picked one that seems to pop up in posts, id be willing to spend a little more if advised.

I simply want a pc that I can build up over next few months with more RAM, soundcard, another larger SSD and will be quiet. I’ve had great value for money from my current pc so would love the same again, open to any advice on what best to configure.

I went with the case below as I like the look of it, black and plain but also that its meant to be very quiet. I have seen the Lian Li Lancool 215 gaming case mentioned a lot, and it’s a good bit cheaper. Am I worth paying the extra for the Define 7 case?

The Lian Li gets mentioned a lot as it's the cheapest high airflow case from a known brand on the configurator currently. I'd only ever suggest the Define 7 if you're specifically looking for a quiet build, if not the Corsair 4000D is quite a nice subtle case that will allow for better airflow and lower temps- but because it's slightly more open, it'll be a bit more audible

Is that the best gfx card for that price?

Not currently. The RX6600 performs within about 5-10% depending on the source (meaning if the 3060 is getting 100FPS the 6600 is getting 90-95) for about £110 less from memory. Yes you lose some of the NVIDIA nice to haves, but in terms of value, the 6600 is about the best card around right now.

Do I need the graphics card support bracket? In my current pc my gfx card ‘sags’ so to speak but its not an issue.

You only need a sag bracket for the really chonky cards, the 3060 and 6600 are unlikely to be very large cards so you'll be good without

We tend to overpsec the PSU rather considerably here to allow for good future upgradability, especially considering how power hungry these next gen cards are rumoured to be. Realistically that system would run very happily off a 750W unit but if you find yourself wanting a higher end RTX4000/5000 then you'll be glad you went for the higher end PSU.

Yep! The corsair H115i PRO XT is a choice for the 12700K

I was gonna say, done well to have a 2600K last so long! Although that said, unless you've got a super high end audio setup or work with audio professionaly you probably won't need a sound card (and if you were I'd recommend going for an external solution)

Awesome! That's all correct!

I certainly would suggest upgrading that monitor- I went from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 144hz a little bit ago and it was mind blowing. You're currently looking at about £300-350 for a decent 1440p 144-165hz IPS monitor.

I'd rather stick with the 12700k for a bit of longevity.
I switched the graphics card to the RX660 which freed up a few pounds, should i stick with this or go with the nvidia 3060ti?
I never realised the windows edition, home is fine.
If i stick with the RX660 then i have £80 or a bit more if you feel there is anything else this could be spent on? I might increase the 2nd storage drive.

I'll look into monitors once I've purchased this.

Fair enough on the 700K. For the GPU, it depends what you want to do with monitors. If you're happy at 1080p and up to a 144hz monitor then the 6600 would be fine- it's a 1080p card, if you're eyeing up that monitor upgrade (which again, I'd highly recommend) then the 3060TI is the one you'll want to go for. 1440p is almost double the amount of pixels to 1080p (2.1 million compared to 3.7 million) so needs a fair amount of grunt which I don't think the 6600 would quite handle. The main reason I mentioned the 6600 is because it was AMD's performance compeititor to the 3060 which you had in your initial build.

Got my refund from my previously poorly designed build (from me) so needing to get this correct. My current PC i7 2600K 3.4ghz has given me 12+ years service and I've now saved up enough to get a new machine, hopefully.

Monitor = Samsung Odyssey g75

Main use will be:

During the day simply using teams, youtube/soundcloud/etc playing videos/music and on the internet for my job.
Outside of work, movies & games.

I plan to invest in a 2nd larger SSD the month after I buy this, just trying to keep the cost to £2K although im a touch over.

What I need and where i failed previous is a pc that will run quiet especially during the day as im extensively on teams.

1) will the pc below be quiet with simply teams/edge open for work use?
2) Have I over/under spec'd anything, im not too sure with coolers as reviews differ vastly.
3) the fractal case seems to get very good reviews wherever i look but im worried about temperature, is the below ok? do i need extra case fans?

I would add the silver warranty for £5, it's well worth it.

Otherwise it looks good. I would have an eye on a Gen4 M2 drive for when you're ready to purchase. I wouldn't middle here.

The 3070Ti suits your monitor well but just be aware that it's unlikely that you'll actually be able to see anything past 120fps, which the likes of the 3060Ti would more than have you covered for. The 3070 would possibly be a decent compromise for the budget.

i plan to get a new monitor in a few months passing my current pc/monitor to my son but that samsung g9 looks so good, maybe a bit out my price range but its my goal.

i plan to get a new monitor in a few months passing my current pc/monitor to my son but that samsung g9 looks so good, maybe a bit out my price range but its my goal.

Little pointer that may help, I bought my G9 through amazon. So long as you have a credit card as an option of payment on your account, they often offer payment plans on various parts for 3 months up to 12 on larger priced items. There's no application for credit, it's purely done on your history with them.

I took that option for the G9.

There's zero interest, plus zero credit check, it's not credit as such, they just look at your history with them and work out if you're trustworthy or not. Just be aware it's taken every 28 days rather than calendar month so factor that in if you're purchasing near payday.

Failing that, there's also an option within PayPal to spread over 3 payments, again, zero interest and zero credit check. I'm not sure what the limitations of that are, it may well be a lower price bracket.
