Did you not recently order a laptop? Is this additional or are you having issues?

I'd it's additional, what's it for and what's the max budget?

It is a budget laptop so you will love it or hate it depending on your workload'
The processor looks adequate as does the16GB ram for multimedia work.
Again, the Integrated graphics will only support multimedia work and not intended for 1080p gaming and above.
The 512GB M2 drive should preferably be only for the OS and associated files. Add another drive for data storage.
Personally, I do not like the way the laptop appears to be supported on the edge of the lid when open. But that is just me.

One more thing. I have a Trust Sydney 17.3 carry bag. Very roomy with lots of compartments. Will carry anything except the kitchen sink.

Can I suggest this for your wife. She may then have to stop you from using hers.

What I bought for my grandaughter for school work during the pandemic was a 14" Fusion laptop. It is light and easy to carry and she likes using it.
I leave you to configure it but will make the following comments.
Weight is 1.3 kg and it has a typical battery life of up to 12 hours.
A GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card is available but only if ordered with the i7-13700H processor. The alternative is an i5-13500H with integrated graphics.
There is only 1 M2 port so you will need a large enough drive to divide (can't think of the word) for OS and data

Just a suggestion, over to you.

We have had some reports of loud fans on the Lafite model. Specs wise I would say it's the best option as you don't need a dGPU, but the fans may be an issue especially if it's being used in a group of people.

BUT, I haven't quite got to the bottom if it may be a software issue due to windows not being correctly setup, and therefor the management driver (which controls fans) not working optimally. This is more and more the case with modern chassis that windows has to be configured exactly right for the management driver to effectively cool. In the old days, the fan curves were set entirely at the BIOS level, that's no longer the case.

Cheers for the suggestion Davhun .. My Laptop is an 8th Gen Defiant Series 17.3" Monster, so I think a 14" might be a little too small.
My Company Lenovo is 15.6 and that is a good size ... Actually, as I type, I might drop down to a 15.6, something like my daughters spec ...

What do you think ??

So just re-worked the config .. in summary, I think this will be more than she will need, but certainly futureproof for the next 4 plus years. Slightly less RAM, and a single drive, but as my daughter users hers for gaming too ...

The Defiance is a powerful machine, they use the full fat H series mobile processors rather than the low power P series in the lafite so it would unquestionably last a lot longer.

I may suggest a 500Gb OS drive and a separate 1tb for data, that way should she have a windows issue, data isn't lost.

Stop right there ......... You need to re-evaluate.
I bought my Vortex III laptop 10 years ago as a desktop replacement. It fits nicely in the carrybag but still seems to weigh a ton just carrying it to the car. The point is, does your daughter need to take it to university, or is it just for evening work (and gaming) at home.

Compared to my old laptop your daughter's seems almost new. In fact the Defiance you have chosen is on special offer but has out of date components. For instance, daughters processor 10750, Defiance 11800 and current 13000 series. The same applies to other components. Most laptops have also changed over to QHD (2560 x 1440) screens but I am not a gamer and can't tell you what the overall effect of that will be. It seems to me that the new configuration is not much of an improvement from your daughters present laptop.
f you want a futureproof computer then I suggest a careful rethink about your requirements.

Its for my wife, not daughter .. Daughter already has her Laptop, and its just coming up to 2 years old.
My wife doesnt play games ... It will be for Medical related work, so mainly theoretical and presentational / Zoom / Teams
Regarding Futureproof ... I really mean longevity ...

I see what you mean about adding a second drive ... (y)
