I thought the backlight bleed on my Vortex was pretty bad too, but when I brought it up PCS emailed back asking for a photo of the light bleed... taken in a well-lit room 😂 In the end I decided not to bother (which is no doubt the desired outcome of this policy of theirs) as I had work to be getting on with

agreed, if it's so visible in daylight then I think you have grounds to ask for a replacement screen.

yes i've noticed high PCH temps also, I'm not especially worried about it. i don't do anything that really pushes CPU temps, and have been generally very pleased with GPU temps (I use the laptop for machine learning in the GPU so stress it out on a regular basis!) after some faff with Nvidia drivers (but that's a Linux thing).

cpu temps after undervolt to 3.8ghz and -140mv seems to stable never crossed 85c for now
other than that Im really happy with it but I will email pcs regarding this black bleed
If you’re at all unhappy with it then raise it with PCS, don’t settle as you’ve paid a lot of money and it needs to be up to par.

I would agree, I think that’s too much. Sometimes the bezel is fitted so it puts too much pressure on the panel and contributes to this, sometimes it just takes an adjustment of the bezel frame to correct, but do raise it with them.

The temps before applying the underclock are very healthy, nothing to be concerned about.

You shouldn’t be underclocking though, undervolt is fine but the u set lock you’ve applied has just nerfed the processor capability by 15%, might as well just have bought a low end i5.

Take off the underclock.

When i took undervolt away it took temperatures to 96c and throttle started and i played doom only so i rather leave it for now its actually 3.890 on all cores with 88c max so maybe ill ask pcs as well to double check that if i would be sending laptop back for screen replacement, if not i will repaste myself in next couple of months still got phobya nanogrease left as i would expect mx4 to work better

guys unfortunatelly I would have to return this unit not that backlight bleed is pretty bad but cpu temps are unacceptable reaching 98c on stock cpu settings just running cinebench not even gaming and then underclock to 3.8ghz with -141mv gets me around 97-98c as well and laptop is on rubbee stand inch or two from the table, will phone pcs today as they advised me that laptop will need to run some benchmark, gpu is running super cool through
this is pic with stock settjngs and another one with undervolt after light gaming

Probably just needs a repaste which you can do yourself if you feel comfortable?

yea i know but i would expect it to work better to be honest that wouldn't be a problem i could do it myself but because of that back bleeding laptop still would need to go back

just a wee update, i have returned laptop today for RMA, pcspecialists customer service its great I was told to get a replacement unit by Wednesday if thats happens, that would be great, temps were crazy on this unit i ran nfs heat in 5 min 100° on two cores 😄 hopefully Ill be lucky this time , I have also requested advanced rebuild for a replacement unit to make sure everything runs smoothly and I also amended dead pixel guarantee and if possible to give me unit with minimal backlight bleeding

Just received email that new built has been sent out today and it will be with me tomorrow, the PCS customer service is one of the best I've ever seen. Hopefully there will be no further problems, I was also very close to get a good deal from hp for omen 17 inch 2070rtx but they out of stock and I need it also for working, I was told last week that I will get a replacement laptop latest till Wednesday so great news cannot wait

The X150R is a tiny bit more powerful in airflow, but significantly quieter, personally I'd go for that.

With regards to keyboards, I'm a huge fan of Roccat, they do some amazing stuff, and the reviews of their keyboards are great.

what is yours toughts on this one, Trust GXT 1125 QUNO? Seems like new cannot find any review but looks amazing. @SpyderTracks what do you think?

I think this is the best option to use keyboard & closer to the screen because of height adjustment
Trust are a bit of a budget brand, the notepal would be better IMHO.

new unit arrived today this afternoon i must says temps are perfect, slight back bleed in the midle of top but much more acceptable than unit before, here repasting job was a masterpiece, temps after gaming stays around 78c max on performance unit with -100mv on auto fans, cores now jumps up to 4.5ghz on all cores, here is a test done in cinebench with max fans on... gpu temps stays around 63-68c. its actually unbelievable lol..
i just have a small problem, my nvme max write and read speed are slower, or benchmark are actually good showing good results? i only updated chipset, center control and nvdia drivers
this is a proper beast now i will give it a proper test weekend but cooling now is impressive
