I have recently bought a new HP E45c G5 screen, which has a DQHD (5120x1440) resolution and would like to use it together with my existing old PC which I have bought from PC Specialist more than 10 years ago. I need to replace and upgrade my graphics card because my existing one only has DVI ports.
Could I ask you for recommendations of GPUs that are still compatible with my old system yet powerful enough to run this high resolution screen at a decent refresh rate?
Spec of my existing system:
- PC Specialist build from around 2011
- Intel® Core i7 2600k Quad Core
- 16 GB RAM
- Asus P8P67 mainboard
- 600W power supply
- Slot for the new GPU is a PCIexpress 2.0 (single at x16)
- BIOS is from 2011 and I can't update it any further
My usage of the GPU won't be very demanding. No gaming, no 3D, no video editing. Just some document editing, Excel spreadsheets and web browsing (with many tabs open at the same time).
Now I'm looking for a graphics card which:
- Is powerful enough to support my new DQHD (5120x1440) screen
- Still works with my old Asus P8P67 mainboard and the other specs of my old computer
- Has an output port which is compatible with the HP E45c G5 screen
- Is quiet
- Doesn't introduce any performance bottlenecks
- Is inexpensive
Elsewhere someone recommended me the ASUS Dual Radeon RX 560, DUAL-RX560-4G, 4GB GDDR5, HDMI, 2x DP graphics card. I have bought that one but unfortunately it is not recognised by my ASUS P8P67 mainboard upon booting (“No VGA detected”, one long beep followed by 3 short beeps) and now I am stuck. Maybe an older model would have better compatibility with my old PC?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
