So you're quite sure the 9950X3D won't park the non-3D V-Cache when playing game, effectively halving threads from 32 to 16?But that core parking issue doesn't happen on the 9000 series.
You seem to be ignoring the majority of posts saying the 9950X/9950X3D will be the best and parroting only those comments that support your view that the 14900K is the best...end of story?
The 'closest' comparisons I can find on youtube are for sims where the cores are important for running the AI algorithms between turns (Stellaris 3 for example)...
- The 7800X3D was faster than the 14700K/14900K in most games (there's always outliers).
- The 7950X3D was slightly slower in most games due to having slower cores for heat management...but also had Windows scheduling problems for some games where the wrong CCD was used.
- The 9800X3D is about 20-30% faster than the 7800X3D.
- The 9950X3D is about the same speed as the 9800X3D (no problem with slower cores as heat management is no longer an issue) - and the scheduling has been fixed
But the only way you're really going to know is to do a public service by buying the 2 different systems (where only the CPU/motherboard is different) and share the results with everyone on the internet who's asking the same question.
And definitely not supporting the 14900S. merely exploring and trying to figure out whether what sounds great on paper, translates into the scenario I have set out.
That whilst games like COD like single cores etc and the 3D V-Cache will help over that of a 14900KS , when it comes to games like cities Skylines II which like cores and threads, if the 9950X3D shuts off half the cores 1) does that half the threads, and would that mean for such game the 9950X3D lags far behind that of a CPU that is able to sustain 32 threads and more cores, 24 cores and 32 threads, versus 16 cores and 32 threads in AMD.
I really want to avoid the scenario of buying a machine that is useless; tbh my current one plays games to a standard I am happy with, however for Cities Skylines its absolute useless, and I want to be able to play that game, and with that, the increase in performance for COD games is a bonus; also , for when the new GTA comes out!
