For 1440p gsync there are things like:
Dell S2716DG
AOC Agon AG271QG
Acer Predator XB271HU

Which are generally available around £550+ or so I think

I hear it is. If you google the model number and "review" you'll usually find reviews of these things by professional and enthusiast hardware websites which you can use to inform your choice :)

Also make sure that whatever you buy, you buy from a store with a returns policy you're happy with in case there's a problem, or excessive backlight bleed, etc.

Hey bud

Can the Ultima x01 be adjusted slightly I've notice on custom builds the difference in price 1080 to 1080ti adds
Around £100 but I don't need a Windows liscense as can get one from work for free.

Could I swap the windows out and pay the difference for a ti

Or is a review build set and that's it . I have sent an email to pcs but heard nothing back

The difference is about £176 as far as I can see.

You can easily order the Ultima without the Windows licence though (if you'd not seen, that's one of the few drop-down menus you can edit on a review build).

Review builds are generally pretty set. That's part of the trade off for over £200s of discount on the spec. It can take PCS a while to reply to emails, but you can always phone them and ask.

A GTX 1080 non-ti is still very capable at 1440p, even in demanding titles. Manually speccing up an Ultima and then adding a 1080 ti would make it about £400 more than the review build.

Yes I did notice the drop down on the windows box just wanted to remove that and add a ti

I just didn't want to get the 1080 then think I had the money there for a ti but didnt buy and regret.
I don't think pcs have any 144 jz 1440 p monitors as I was going to pay cash 1000 and finance the rest seeing as it's interest free in a fashion

If your budget was £1900-2000 you wouldn't have had enough for an Ultima with a 1080 ti and a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor anyway I guess. i.e. you'd have a 1080 ti but not enough for a monitor to make it worth having a 1080 t. Do phone them and ask ofc.

PCS do sell the ASUS 27" ROG Swift PG278QR (1440p 144hz gsync) monitor as Lockstar mentioned, and the AOC AGON AG271QG 27" both for around £600 (and the ASUS PG279Q 27" ROG Swift which is over £700).

But if you want another monitor from elsewhere or can find a better deal on monitors on another store then go for it :)

Says currently unavailable when I click to add to the pc from the drop down list

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well orginally I had 1900 but noticed I could finance so decided to pay 1000 and finance the rest i.e whatever pc plus monitor was minus my deposit

Ultima x01 1390 ISH without windows
+175 ti
Plus 600 monitor
Minus my deposit £1000 plus finance as it's interest free
I'm on a mobile phone maybe that's why it's not coming up ???

Also do I need some form of WiFi network adaptor

Cheers for all your responses I can appreciate its annoying as hell when someone isn't very educated in it all .lol 😁

I make no claims to be educated about these things:p I guess they must have stock issues with those monitors.

See what the say, but a 1080 will be a very fine pairing with a 1440p monitor indeed. e.g.

Also, whichever GPU you buy today you'll want to replace in the mid-term future. And the next gen is said to be just around the corner. So what you 'save' by getting a 1080 will just go towards your next GPU upgrade anyway :)

I've asked the question bud regarding the Ultima xo1

My wife has an account with very I noticed they have some pcs machines
In which she has some discount could u possibly have a look at the xtr system on there if it's worth a look it's a ryzen 7 processor tho.
And the spec list isn't really in detail tbh
It would come in at a few hundred off the price

If you manually configured a similar spec to the Orion XTR it would come out cheaper.
e.g.https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-pc/7tb!m6Fz60/
(assuming cheap mobo, slow RAM, VS PSU, etc)

The spec doesn't say what RAM frequency it has, what PSU, what cooling, or what SSD, or what motherboard. The CPU is also technically lower performing. Not much of an issue at 1440p with a 1080 ti but potentially a consideration for GPU upgrades down the line. Though that's not to say Ryzen isn't perfectly capable at gaming.

I meant to post the other day but it's hard keeping track of topics :)

Why does it have to be Very? Would other PCS resellers offering finance be suitable? Do you have some kind of voucher with Very?

Bigdave17

Yes £150
I did try finance last for the Ultima and so did my partner but both got refused we have a sofa off the same company also but we think it's as it's a new property we may not be on the electrol roll here.
And didn't want to apply again as damages your score to reapply etc

The only one in your budget range that looked appealing was the AMD Orion XTR but we've no way of knowing what it has as a mobo, as RAM frequency, and as a PSU. I'd suggest you ask Very and PCS if they can confirm, since you should always know as far as possible what you're buying before you buy it :)

Even with £150 as a voucher and the sale price it's barely any cheaper than buying direct from PCS, even assuming a B350 mobo and fast RAM.

Yes I think they add there own margins on also. Is the xtr they ryzen 7 model if so I know the full spec of that

B350 mobile
Ram is vengance 2133 MHz ( is this poo)
Headdrivr is Seagate Barracuda
Ssd is a w.d m2'
Power supply vs650

I think to build on pcs it's around 1600 so they definatly add there own bit

It's up to you ultimately. I'd consider it a shame to get a system for £1700 + a £150 voucher that had slow RAM (perhaps especially a Ryzen system) and a VS PSU. It will still perform admirably at 1440p though.

But if you can't get finance for the Ultima or another spec on the PCS store I guess your options for PCS systems are quite limited.

Yes u really carnt beat the Ultima for the money ay I'm.going to see what this week brings and it may be a cash option and the monitor will have to wait.
