So your CPU is a very high spec, but your ram is slow. 2400mhz ram will bottleneck the CPU I believe? I am learning as well, but think this is correct. You would want 3200-3600mhz ram.

You would want one storage drive to be an M2 as they are much faster than SSD or hhd. Again the system would be waiting for your drives as they're slower.

Depending on what cpu you go with, you will either need better cooling for the 3900x, or you can use the standard AMD cooler with a lesser CPU.

Your GPU is for 1440p, but for monitor is 1080. So you won't get the benefit of that GPU.

Nurse has already replied and knows what's what, so will help you.

You can definitely build a great system with that budget though! I made several changes after ordering and am extremely glad I did. I actually saved money on the GPU, which I can put towards the next generation out later this year/next year. And my system was more balanced and just better for my needs.

To know if this is a good spec for your needs or not, we need the following information:


- Maximum budget? Helps to know if there is any room to upgrade things

- Monitor to be used with this system? Resolution and refresh rate or make and model if unsure. Gaming systems are always specced according to the monitor

- Any other uses to take into account? Editing? Streaming? things like that


Let us know the above and we can advise appropriately. I will say that spec will need some work as the 3900, depending on gaming level, is overpowered and the system will need better RAM, PSU and hard drives. But we can go through that when you let us know the above information

I know the OP has got a 240Hz 1080p monitor but would a 1440p 144Hz build not be better? I have no clue how the 2 match up so maybe the 240Hz is better

But with a budget of 2k, you could take the spec you posted, add in a 2070S and it would leave around £400 for a 1440p 144Hz monitor....unless I'm missing something somewhere

If going for 500GB on the primary you would be better to select the Evo overall, it's got faster writes.

With the PSU, you want at least the TXm in there to be honest. The CV is a decent PSU but it's not at this level.
