Hi all,
I'm planning on ordering a gaming PC with PCS. I've not ordered a new computer in so long so I thought it best to throw the spec out to this fine community to help me sanity check my spec. I've used the great Desktop Building Guide by @Scott on the PCS forums to inform some of my decisions on the build, thank you for that resource!
For reference, I've selected 'No Graphics Card' in the below specification because I'm waiting for the new AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT to be launched on the 18th November so I can add to my order and submit it! For reference, I plan to pair this system with a LG 27GL850-B 27" 2560x1440 NANO IPS 144Hz 1ms FreeSync monitor that I already own.
In terms of budget, I'm looking of sticking under £2,500.00, if I can. I intend to be using it for gaming and I prefer faced paced FPS (e.g. latest CoD and BF instalments and Natural Selection 2) and plan on playing title such as Cyberpunk 2077. I also dabble in some RTS and smaller indie titles. I've never streamed before but I'm keen to have a system that can support it as I would like to have the option of joining the scene. The only other important thing to mention is that I will also be purchasing an Oculus Quest 2 at some point in the future (when I save enough) and intend to use my new computer to connect it and play titles such as Start Wars Squadrons in VR via the computer.
Having not done this in a while, a couple of questions came to mind that would be good to throw out to the community:
1. Most importantly, do you think it will cover my use case?
2. Is there anything I've oversubscribed on?
3. Do I have enough RAM or should I look to increase to 32GB (if possible)?
4. I was torn between the Noctu fan cooler and the one I selected (Corsair H115i Pro) but I'm concerned about potential leaks. Should I not be so concerned?
5. I plan to use the 1st M.2 NVMe for the OS and critical apps and the 2nd M.2 NVMe for games etc... Is that sensible?
6. As I plan to (attempt) streaming at some point, will the spec be enough for light video editing?
