New build, no connection to monitor

Hey guys,

So I bought a new PC that arrived today. I bought without a Graphics card.
I got it, seated the GPU and (eventually) found the PCI-e cables and plugged it in.

Unfortunately I'm getting no signal to monitor.
The fans run, and I'm getting no weird beeps. The card works because I'm typing this on my old rig with the card in it.
I'm making 2 assumptions

1. when they test the PC's they put a card in
2. If the GPU fans are running then it's getting power from the PSU
I can't test the onboard graphics because the way they've sat the motherboard it's just obscured so the HDMI doesn't fit.

I'm looking for any potential solutions.
The card is a Nvidia 3060

The rest is as follows

If the motherboard shroud is not fitted properly, then I'd RMA it to send it back.

But that's a very low spec PSU, RAM and SSD for a gaming PC.

They wouldn’t fit a gpu for testing as would just use the igpu for that. Normally there would be a protection cab over the motherboard display port, is that what you mean or do you mean it’s actually misaligned in the case?

But yeah, there are several areas of that build that aren’t suitable, I would suggest cancelling the order and getting some advice.

The RAM is being replaced at the end of the month.
It's just the tabs at the back you can snap off, it was just bent a little bit. Nothing major at all.
Funnily enough I had a higher spec PSU and it told me I didn't need it for this build and if I'd like to replace it.

The configurator doesn't know what GPU you're going to 'eventually' put into the PC which is potentially why the popup indicated the PSU you've selected is over spec.

Is the picture you've included (2.jpg) the slot you've been using to try and boot your monitor?

There does appear to be slight misalignment but I think thats the motherboard connectors you'd want to use the GPU you've installed not the motherboard.

I'd agree with what's been said above, I'd look to RMA this as misalignment could indicate damage during transit and would be best to get it fixed.

I just checked and adding a 3060 gives me the exact same recommendation.

I've done the calculations and it should be fine. It certainly shouldn't be causing issues on startup.

That's not the port I'm trying to use, someone recommeneded I use it and I can't.
Honestly I really don't want to go through RMA then waiting weeks and weeks for something so minor.
I'll wait for tech support to get back to me, see if they have any ideas.

The configurator merely calculates TDPs without taking into account any significant aspects such as transient loads, peaks, and future GPU upgrades. I wouldn't go below 850/1000W for a gaming PC.

Except for the CPU, the rest of the build is visibly unbalanced, with relatively low-end MB, a storage arrangement unsuitable for games (you would have two separate M.2s for the OS and software/games), a low-quality cooling, and a low-quality single RAM stick (@4800MHz).

In my opinion, such a build is not well-suited, but the money is yours and you may spend it anyway you like. :)

I can only echo what others have said. It's a very poorly configured gaming PC, from top to bottom.... other than the CPU.

With that said, that motherboard isn't sitting properly. I would strongly advise that you send it back to PCS to have them remedy it. You could get headaches in the future with grounding/sound/noise etc. It's not been fitted properly or it's came loose during transit.

I think what I'll do is RMA it and change a few of the parts.

The RAM I already have and couldn't select no RAM
The Hard Drives I'm fine with. One is for storage and the other for like 3 simracing games I play.
I'll get a slightly better mobo, cooling and apparently PSU. I'll have about £300 to spend.
Honestly I kinda hope if I tell them this they'll just pick the parts for me, I'm too old for this haha

If you’re designing a pc with your requirement as they are now, then you’ve not designed it correctly and you’ll have poor performance and limit upgrade ability.

we can only advise you for best performance for the budget, it’s up to you if you want to listen to that

its not a good pc, even if you do get it working. I would class it as a waste of money

upgrading parts means buying new parts, you can’t replace the ones you’ve bought and get a refund. You’d have to cancel the order and start again

Just as an update and for clarity incase anyone else reads this it turns out I can return and upgrade. No need to cancel or refund or start again.
Spent the extra money and went big, thanks.
