New build issues

Hi guys,

I know it might be a little off topic but I wasn't too sure on where to post the thread, basically my new desktop arrived a couple of days ago but as soon as I opened it I've noticed a few things were looking odd.

There was a spare piece of plastic floating around the case that I couldn't identify (i will post a picture of it hopefully one of the experts will recognize it) and also on first boot I had no signal to screen and vga light on motherboard :(

I've called PCS immediatly after trying different screens and cables and on the call line was sugegsted to try re-seat the gpu (i cowardly didn't feel brave enough to do it since I don't have any experience in building).

So I have been booked for a recollection and rma of gpu.

My question is, do anyone know what's roughly the estimated time for rma's to be solved? I'm so sorry to be a pain but I am really exited to use my new machine as soon as possible.

None of us work for PCS so we wouldn't know their queue times, now is probably the best time as new hardware is being released a bit later on in January. I don't think they're particularly busy currently judging by the flow on the forums.

It's possible that bit of plastic is part of the GPU bracket, hard to tell from that angle though.

Were you definitely plugging the monitor into the GPU and not the motherboard?

Thanks for the really quick reply! It was actually on top of the gpu so i thought might have been something from it but as said I am not an expert, as for the cable, yes, I have tried both hdmi and dp cable on both a new and older screen but there wasnt any life coming out of it

That was my first though too, but I'm not sure what the PCS brackets look like.

Yes, but where was the cable plugged into? One end in your monitor and the other end in the GPU or the Motherboard?

Yeah forgot to answer that part, my motherboard doesnt seem to have connection for screens directly to it (not sure if it is due to amd chipset not having integrated graphics or due to the motherboard itself) but definetly plugged into the gpu (bottom part of the case)

Motherboard has 2 display outputs

The GPU bracket needs to be put into place on receipt, they can’t fit it before it’s shipped as it would just get loose anyway

Oh so that was hanging there on purpose basically? Good to know! My previous gpu was a 2070 super (the 2 fan version) so I never even saw a bracket before! As for the display outputs of the motherboard, I coudn't see any but I will definetly at the manual to find them! I am more than keen into learning new things especially if they can be useful in future! Thanks for all the explanation guys, I definetly will need to come back with a new post once I have the pc back to place the bracket on the gpu :)
