My bad well I got in 2020 so must of been December time. I stayed up late trying to order on multiple nights but didn't get any luck. In the end I joined a forum similar to reddit that it's in Ireland and people who had pre ordered that no longer wanted it were giving there order numbers away and I ended up driving half the country to collect one from argos .
Ah OK, and what TV were you playing it on? What model?

I was using a 55inch q9fn but now use it with just a basic 1080p 60hz 24inch monitor

5950x would be worse than the 5900x for gaming it's not a gaming focused CPU mate.

I think you've also missed the point in what @SpyderTracks is trying to say about the GPU
Yep I've seen the 5900x is as good as 5950 for gaming but just wanted to check.

I get the point on the gpu but minimum I planned on buying was 3080 as I want good frames. I probably won't upgrade it for years. I'll look up the other cards now 3070 3060 etc . If I'm getting a pc I want it to perform much better than my sx

Again refresh rate isn't important for your uses above 144hz. It's the resolution at 144hz that's going to make a far greater impact to your gaming experience.

1440p 240hz will be exactly the same experience as you've had with your xbox, literally no difference. The gaming upgrade would be moving to 4k 144hz.

The GPU can only put out what the monitor can output, so on a 1440p monitor you're going to get no more frames with a 3080 than with a 3060Ti, its like you could put racing engine in a road car but if the transmission is only a normal road transmission you'd go no faster than with the normal engine

Sorry, I know my questioning may come across as interrogative, but it's not supposed to.

My point is that if you chose 1080 60hx over 1440p 120hz, and found 1080p a better experience because your fps counter was saying you were hitting over the 120fps that you were getting in the xbox, then it proves that fps is not something that makes any difference to your gaming style.

FPS = Hz, so on a 1080p 60hz monitor, even if the game is putting out 300fps, you're only seeing 60fps as that's all the monitor can display.

The visual improvement from 1080p 60hz up to 1440p 120Hz is absolutely ginormous so it begs the question what made you switch back.

But again, if you're looking for a better experience visually from 1440p 120hz, that improvement is going to come from increasing resolution. Hz has no impact on visuals, it will just give you an additional 2ms reaction time if your reactions are that sensitive. But the visual experience would be a exactly the same as the xbox at 1440p 240hz

The other thing is that if you found the frames on the xbox so beneficial, how come you moved back to 60hz 1080p?
i was using my big 4k tv downgraded to 1440p that supports 120hz. the old 1080p monitor is being used because its at a desk and i cant put the tv on the desk and i need to sit in a chair for my back. it didnt come down to choice but its the only monitor i have. hope this makes sense

Hi all,

I've ordered the below build and was wondering what you would recommend for a PC case. Currently i have selected the Meshify 2 which i know is a good case. My main concern with this build due to the 12900k is temps. Is there a better case that would provide better temps and longevity as i wont be changing this pc for maybe 5 years so want to make sure everything will fit in the future.

I'm currently thinking of changing my case to either the Fractal Torrent, Lian Li 011 Dynamic evo or Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL. If i went with the 011 i will add a further 3 fans to my current 6.

Lastly could someone please confirm how i send in my own case? i understand the process but cant see the option on the configurator when selecting case to send in my own. It only lists the PC specialist stock ? Also would the arctic paste be better than standard ?

Thanks in advance.

The Meshify is a great choice mate it's very very good. I personally like the 5000X for these kind of build due the space and air flow but I don't believe it's currently in stock

You've made a good choice though

Thank you. Yes i think the Meshify 2 is the best one for airflow in stock. I seen a screenshot of how people select "send in your own case" which seems its a option but unfortunately i cant see it so cant select it

The Meshify is an amazing case, one of my absolute favourites. I'd be more than happy with that.

The Torrent and the O11D are also amazing. You can't really go wrong with any of them. I'm not at all convinced you need the extra fans, though. In those cases the airflow is really good without it, and more fans will just add noise.
