New 5800x/6800xt Build Arrived

I got my new build yesterday morning. Going great so far.
I got the XFX Merc 319 6800xt so I'm very pleased.
It should do a good job on driving high frames on competitive multiplayer for my Samsung G7 monitor.

The build took 18 working days and was dispatched on day 19 which was great from PcSpecialist, especially considering the shortage on components at the moment. Had to ring them once to query something and I got straight through within a minute whicg was great but surprising considering the stories I have heard on here about hour/hours queue times. I must of got lucky lol.
Overall, great service.

FedEx, however took over two weeks to deliver after missing multiple 'Scheduled' delivery dates and they are a terrible company to deal with.

The boot time for the pc with the samsung 980 pro is crazy fast and the firecuda 520 loads games super quick too.

How do you find the cooling and noise levels on that case? I'm considering case options for a new build and liked the idea of a more open front for cooling and to show off RGB front fans - but was not sure about noise levels

The more open, the better the airflow, so the slower the fans need to go and therefore less noise. Only issue is with pump noise. An airflow case will never be silent, but they are pretty quite, dependant on how cool you want to keep your parts.

Thanks, I didn't appreciate the fans can run slower on an airflow case. Do you think the airflow Vs closed front case actually has a material impact on performance - i.e. do components get hot enough on a decent closed case to trigger performance throttling?

Yes definitely. I have complete overkill cooling in my case and even then... i still run the fans to a noise to drown out the pump noise and my cpu runs at essentially full boost constantly. The gpu could also boost more often and keep to a lower fan speed.

Apart from price, there is absolutely no downside to overspeccing cooling. I mean... i wouldn’t recommend a H115i elite capellix on a Ryzen 5 3600 build, but I certainly would on a 5800X

I’d recommend the same as OP here. 5000D with extra fans and a H115i, it’s a fantastic setup - i’m sure @CelticPacman could tell you all about it.

Hi guys

Yes, I’m finding the 5000d to be a great match for the other hardware I have in my build.

It’s obviously never going to be a silent case but I do find that it runs fairly quiet.

I always wear a headset when playing but they are open back (DROP + Sennheiser PC38X)
I don’t even notice the noise coming from the machine while playing and my pc is on my desk right at ear level.
