Need an expert eye on this proposed build please

I’m considering the following but I have never done this before, I saw a PCS computer on the currys website that had a lot of the guts I wanted but I didn’t have faith in the case and it’s cooling ability, I worry about overheating (a lot). My objectives are: Gaming, both FPS and open world RPG, hopefully upgrading to a 4K monitor in the next couple of years, or taking into living room to use with 52” 4K on the odd occasion maybe, I will not be live streaming just gaming but I want to future proof myself in terms of GPU & CPU if I can, I’m not going to be able to afford to upgrade yearly or 2 yearly, it’s going to have to last a lot longer than that before needing anything. Looking for a smooth gaming experience into the future for as long as possible basically. With the extra 2 fans I have added I’m thinking rear exhaust fan and bottom intake fan but open to suggestions regards air flow, anyway hope someone out there can help, I’ve been on console for the last 15 years or so and PC gaming looks like a steep learning curve and a virtual minefield, I have been watching a lot of component YouTube reviews but tbh my brain hurts now, anyway here’s the proposed build:

Hi there,
Good effort but I would not recommend buying this build as it currently stands. You’re undercooked in the cooling and PSU department, and there are other areas that could be optimised.

If you could let us know your budget, and confirm if this PC will be used solely for gaming, with aspirations of buying a 4K 144hz display in the near future, some helpful forum members should come along shortly and help spec something a little more optimised for you.

Hi, thank you so much for the reply, budget is £2400.00 which is pretty much the max I can go to, would be used purely for gaming with aspirations of a 4K monitor in future

Case
COOLERMASTER MASTERBOX TD500 MESH ARGB GAMING CASE Solid case choice, the 3 case fans plus the 2 from the cooler will be ample airflow.
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i5 10-Core Processor i5-12600K (3.7GHz) 20MB Cache A strong i5 is a great sweet spot for gaming. At 4K you’re almost always going to be GPU bottlenecked so you don’t need a top of the line CPU.
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 (LGA1700, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0) - ARGB Ready
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB) Staying with DDR4 means that we can save a lot with a strong 16GB kit. FPS and open world titles manage fine with 16GB, and you need very premium DDR5 RAM before you start getting decent performance gains.
Graphics Card
10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP, LHR
1st M.2 SSD Drive
500GB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 6900MB/R, 5000MB/W) Fast primary drive for OS and programs
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W) Large speedy games drive to put all your games on.
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1000W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
Some more headroom as the CPU and GPU can be very power hungry at times
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler The 12th gen CPUs are very toasty; PCS don’t stock any air coolers powerful enough for me to recommend using with the 12600k.
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS
Operating System

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for me, I only really wanted 16GB ram (2x8) but I didn’t originally see that in the options so I will go back through again and pop in your suggestions, many thanks again

One other thing occurred to me so before I order up with this spec, if I added a sound card such as the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy RX would that then need any more cooling or power or would that be well covered, thanks again for the help

Sound cards are largely redundant these days. Modern motherboards come with really good audio already, you have to get a proper audio setup to beat what's already included. So I wouldn't recommend a sound card, but if you do get one you'll be fine from a cooling and power perspective.

Thank you for that, I think that covers everything just the exciting step of getting it ordered up, thanks again for all the advice
