Yeah, once you've gone AM4 to AM5, it's basically a full rebuild, but I wouldn't recommend it, it's a huge waste of money, you won't get any significant improvement over 5800X3D, not worth the price increase anyway, totally not worth it.

I was just looking around at some options, but figured that would be the case, it was just a bit of a shock to see the price on PCS upgrade go up from £385 to £416.

My X570 / AM4 system still got some good years left in it before a new full system build , getting a 5800X3D at some point will extend the life of my PC even more,

I do want to get the most out my X570 for years to come, and my concern in earlier post of newer upcoming games where the 3700X is becoming minimum requirement for some games,

I'm 100% in on getting a 5800X3D at some point,
Just depends on the upgrade prices from PCS compared to the prices thats on Amazon

Also went ahead today and ordered a 5800X3D and some thermal paste, should arrive on Thursday 8th.

You can manually flash windows 11 if windows update isn't serving it, just download the windows installation assistant:

Download Windows 11

But as always, it would never be advised to do an upgrade in place. Always to a clean install with major version updates otherwise it tends to be the case you lose available performance due to cluttered OS files.

Installed the 5800X3D today, temps seem fine on idle and under gaming, gaming performance has increased by a fair amount, I've been playing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League over the past couple of days at 4K, medium/ high settings, and getting around 40 - 60 fps,
Played Suicide Squad for an hour today after installing the 5800X3D, same ingame setting used, now seeing 90 - 110 fps, That tells me, my 3080ti must of been bottlenecked by the 3700X, so i'm quite happy with this upgrade, and glad i didn't opt to spend 1000's to just go for a 7800X3D,

Though a small issue has come up, one of my CPU radiator fans is now uncontrollable in icue, it's still running but i can't control the speed, in icue it show it's rpm as zero, but looking at the fan in the BIOS, it running at around 4000 rpm, and cant seem to change the fan speed in the BIOS either,

I've uninstalled and completely removed Icue, then downloaded and installed it again, still no change with the fan,

I've not changed anything or done anything other than, when I came to installing the 5800X3D, I turned off the switch at the back of the PSU to power PC off, removed GPU to have more working space, took the AIO pump off, cleaned up the old thermal paste, removed 3700X, installed 5800X3D applied new thermal paste, put the AIO pump back on, put GPU back in, then turned PC back on.

I don't know why the one fan is acting the way it is.

EDIT: I've fixed the fan issue, i must of slightly snagged the fan cable and pull it out a little when i removed the AIO pump, I've made sure all cable are now all connected.

These X3D chips are quite remarkable for gaming, and the 5800X3D still outperforms some of the lower 7000 non X3d parts in gaming, it’s still a very capable processor.

Very worthwhile upgrade!

Thank you for the tips and advice, I should be good for many more years, only upgrades i see now are future GPU's,
Though i was tempted by the new rtx 4080 super, but will stick to my guns and will wait as i said in one of my older post's of when i got my 3080ti, that i would wait for the rtx 5000 series as my next possible GPU upgrade, be it a rtx 5080 / 5080ti / 5080 super or whatever they'll get called.

I'm a month away from my PC being 5 years old and it's still going strong...

Though i'd do this early due to my current monitor (LG 27GP950), which i believe has started to go faulty and has luck have it, it's out of warranty,

My monitor is showing some horizontal lines across the screen along with some static after/ghost images of previous screen image...

Some things I've tried to troubleshoot...
Bought and replaced the Displayport cable, ( Club3D Displayport 1.4 cable, Vesa Certified )
Tried the new and old Displayport cables in every displayport,port ( both old and new cables are Club3D cables ),
Tried a clean install of the monitors Firmware/Software to it latest/newest version,
Tried a clean install of the GPU latest drivers just in case,

I've switched channels over from Displayport to HDMI on the monitor, on the HDMI channel i don't see these horizontal line show up but it does still show the the after/ghost image ( looks like screen burn in but it's not, like in the middle and bottom pictures posted ),

I can't think of anything else to try as to the cause of this, so i've ordered a new monitor to test it, when i get it, and if it's not the monitor and still show the same issues on the new monitor, I'm guessing it's maybe the GPU??.

I would imagine that's the monitor, that's quite pronounced, never seen that kind of thing from a graphics card issue personally.

I can see a few others stating the same issue with that panel.

I still plan on getting an RTX 5000 series GPU when they release but with this new monitor spec , I may change from the intended RTX 5080 i was going to get, to a RTX 5090 now, but it also depends if my 1000w PSU in my system will be enough/ok?.

Ooo, that's quite a step up monitor wise. MSI tend to pack in a hell of a lot into their monitors

I think the HDR quality step up is going to hit you quite hard, obviously in a positive way.

5090 has been confirmed to be up to a full 600W, obviously aftermarket cards will likely use more than FE cards.
Leaks so far with the crazy gap between the 5080 and 5090 hardware wise suggests to me that that one may in fact be a Titan class card rather than the 5090, I suspect there's a model in between that hasn't been leaked as yet, the gap just seems too huge to me.

Price though is likely going to be more than the £1600 it was when still properly stocked as AMD have confirmed they're not competing in the high end this generation, so Nvidia can charge what they want, and we all know how they love to do that!

I think the HDR quality step up is going to hit you quite hard, obviously in a positive way.

The spec on the MSI is a little confusing, in a way ,looks like a downgrade because it showing it's only as HDR 400, but my LG has HDR 600, but i'm guessing that's due to the difference of MSI being a QD-OLED and the LG being NANO IPS.

It’s one of these incredibly frustrating things about HDR certification.

The MSI is actually HDR True Black 400 certified which is different to normal HDR

HDR True Black 400 would generally be classed even above normal HDR1000

I think it’s reserved for OLEDs where the pixel is actually fully off

I would imagine that's the monitor, that's quite pronounced, never seen that kind of thing from a graphics card issue personally.

I can see a few others stating the same issue with that panel.

I now have my new monitor,
I'm not seeing any of the issues that appeared on the LG monitor,

My phone camera may not do it justice to how good it looks,

The MSI monitor is very impressive,
Only concern i have, is that it's an OLED, which are known for screen burn in, I know that this MSI monitor is a GEN 3 OLED monitor, so it has a number of options/features in the monitor setting to mitigate burn in as much as possible and i have all those setting turned on, and every 4 hours the monitor wants to run a panel protect feature, which takes about 5 minutes to complete during that time the monitor goes off/ into standby which it runs it's panel protect,

At least my LG monitor had the decency go faulty a few weeks before Black Friday deals came in, I got a saving of £200 off the MSI monitor in the Black Friday deals.

Every 4 hours seems a bit aggressive. My gen1 Alienware is supposedly more susceptible to burn-in but it's only every 4 hours to - with a simply click of the power button cancelling it until it reaches a cumulative 20 hours of use.

Maybe your's has a similar feature?

Mine has the same features

The auto panel protect wants to run every 4 hours, it also has the option to run the panel protect every 16 hours,
Me being a heavy gamer, playing games for hours, having the same HUD elements static on screen during gaming, i'm unsure if running the panel protect every 4 hours is better than every 16 hours, I'm new to OLED's, so there is that concern in the back of my mind of burn ins, in the future, and i know it going to happen at some point, it being an OLED,

I watched Hardware Unboxed torture test the same MSI OLED monitor i just got, without using any of the features to prevent burn in, and after 3-6 months the panel showed signs of burn ins.

So i have every feature turned on to mitigate any burn ins.
