Mid range gaming PC spec £1500-£2000 is this decent?

Great... then I have no choice but to change the CPU or cancel at this rate, I'm pretty set on this build to be honest.

I've asked on chat about EXPO being turned off and through email to downclock the ram between 5200-5600mhz.. Guess I'll have to see what happens now.

So this was the response from them. They're trying to get me to buy another CPU or RAM to get it to work but I've spotted numerous people with this build and they're fine with it now after tweaks to the ram. I've suggested downclocking the ram but they seem to be ignoring me on that suggestion, They also seem to be ignoring me about updating the BIOs as this was processed into testing at the end of last month so I'm concerned they have not updated to the latest BIOs for the Asus board. I'm just getting a little frustrated.

I can see others online turning EXPO off or downclocking and they have a stable system with no issues. I'm sending another email persisting on downclocking the ram.

I'd honestly be annoyed at that point if you ordered a 7800X3D then you'd want that exact CPU not a 7900x which is a different CPU that serves different functions. Sure it's great and will do a brilliant job but it wont do as good a job as the 7800X3D for the purposes you listed and frankly it's not the CPU you want or ordered

I wouldn't take the 7900x over the 7800x3d, it's not a good trade off.

If after this email they say they can't do anything about it. I'll just be canceling my order.

It's understandable and frustrating when things like this don't work right away when building a PC and I get they have a ton of other PCs to work on, but sometimes I get the feeling they do the bare minimum to test a PC and call it a day rather than actually listening and testing with helpful suggestions which are safe to do.
I mean, the testers thought down/underclocking meant switching and buying the 5600mhz ram from the 6000mhz and refunding me the diff.

Well they took my advice and downclocked it to 5600mhz which got it working and is now awaiting dispatch! When the time comes and fix does come out, will I have to contact PCS for permission to clock them up to 6000mhz? So not to void warranty.

You will need permission to update the BIOS. The RAM settings you are free to play with :)
