I’m having problems with my new laptop and creating a PIN via the Authenticator. I select Create Pin and it loads and loads for ages, any ideas?

Is this a PCS laptop? Can you post your full spec please. Did you buy with Windows?

What are you doing that requires you to create PIN - first log in? or are you in another program or something?

The common solution to this is generally to be connected to the internet during setup. If you aren't connected to the internet, try doing so and see if it solves the issue.

Yes it is. It’s an elimina series 17.3” i7 processor 16GB Corsair, RTX 3060 1tb SSD drive. Yeah I did buy it with windows 11. I’m signing into my Microsoft account as prompted and then It says I have to create a pin because I haven’t signed in with a passcode. And then it’s just stuck on a whirring circle screen for ages.

The pin is nothing to do with Microsoft authenticator, it’s the windows hello PIN.

Are you connected to the internet? You can’t setup windows without being connected as it has to connect to your Microsoft account.

Can you skip this process and continue to allow Windows to be installed and activated.

Then run all windows updates etc.

Then you can go in and create pin via the settings. (Right click start > click Settings, then search for setting PIN and select from that).

I can’t get pass the “Let’s add your Microsoft account” part. There’s nowhere to go, maybe there’s something I don’t know, on how to progress from here?? Thanks guys

Personally, I'd start from scratch, but this time, connect it to the network using an ethernet cable, and follow this procedure:

Download a new copy of Windows using the Media Creation Tool (Second option on linked page) to an 8GB (min) USB.
Boot that USB and choose a Custom Install.
Delete all UEFI partitions on the system drive (EFI System, Recovery, MSR Reserved, Primary).
Select the unallocated space that results and click the Next button. The installer will create the correct partitions and install Windows.
Run Windows Update repeatedly, even across reboots, until no more updates are found.
You may need/want to download and install the latest graphics driver from the Nvidia/AMD website (they change so regularly the latest version isn't always in the Windows libraries).

This is also worth a watch
