Microphone problems

I realise this is not a PCS question or a fault to do with PCS. However, I have to get an answer for this question.
I am looking for a microphone and have come across something that I thought of.
If I connect my microphone to my pc and my usb headset will i be able to use my headset and an earphone and microphone as, well, a microphone.
I checked all over online an have yet to receive a good answer (maybe because the answer is obvious)

Sorry - a little confused - use your headset, earphone and microphone - so two earpieces and two microphones?

Or do you mean use the earpieces from your headset but a freestanding mic instead of the one built into the headset?

If you mean the latter then yes this is possible, you go into the sound settings and you can select the input device you want to use for the microphone and the output you want to use for the sound.

If you mean the former as in doubling up on the microphone, I am not sure it is possible as you can only select one input device I think.

Above has a good answer, I use voicemod sometimes when streaming and have to select a different microphone channel from the mic(which is also different from my headset), you just have to change input and it'll be fine.
