Hi all! Can't wait for my new mega machine to arrive I've been long overdue an upgrade.

I work in Motion Graphics, 3D Animation, VJing, Interactive Installations etc. so I've been sorely needing to up my capacity for production so here goes.

128GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (8 x 16GB)
24GB ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE RTX 3090 - HDMI, DP
2x 4TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (up to 560MB/sR | 530MB/sW).... 1x Active Projects, 1x Stock Assets, Recent Archive, Personal
2x 2TB CORSAIR MP400 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 3480 MB/R, 3000 MB/W).... 1x OS and Apps, 1x Cache and Render (to then be moved into Active Projects)

I would strongly recommend cancelling and getting advice, an AMD build would completely walk all over this for the same money.

AMD are amazing but do u mean a threadripper or just the 5950X SPYDER? also maybe get a bigger cooler 280mm over a 240mm

as to rendering this is why i went with the 5950X (see pic)

also maybe don't go for an OC AMD build if ya do. as u do all sorts, a OC AMD will be a flat GHZ around 4.5-ish while a standard will boost higher but get hot and down clock some cores, but still do a very good job..so the thing with AMD's new chips is keep them very very cool and they will boost for days...but if ya really only want stable rendering, then a OC with a good cooler would be perfect....also there's silicon lottery if ya really lucky you might see 4.7Ghz...I got 4.4ghz with a 240mm cooler, you should see 4.5/6 with a 280mm cooler...maybe .......might need a 360mm rad for 4.7 ...so cooling is importaint ..and speed of ram too..but as you want 128gb u might not have many options...u need above 3600mhz ram to see the top OC's I think..i went with 64gb @3200..also waiting for the Hero III motherboard to be in stock again might not be a bad idea as u have the £££ as that's the top teir mobo, and will get the most out of the 5950X

Against the 18 core, budget comparison, it would likely be TR, but as you have noted the 5950X is no slouch :D

In case it's of any interest, after a lot of research, I went for an AMD 5950X and RTX3090 for my motion graphics (mainly After Effects, some Premiere Pro and some Cinema 4D) "mega machine" which is - hopefully - being built as I type this! The Intel CPUs didn't seem to fair very well against the AMD offerings.
