Mafia 2 Demo

Looks very nice and plays well but it seems to have broke PhysX on my PC. :s

Whenever I run it on PhysX at high I get 10ish fps (as opposed to 60fps without PhysX enabled) and it makes no difference as to whether a dedicate a card, or if I put it on CPU rendering. Now whenever I try to play Batman Arkham Asylum I get the same story.

Damn you 2k Czech!

same story all over overclock.net so your not the only one. You are the first to claim its broke physx in other games though, remove drivers and reinstall i reckon. Perhaps its installed a funky version of physx with the game.

Early demo though i would expect a fix soon.

PS People seem to be disabling physx for now and getting usual fps in mafia 2.

Reinstalled PhysX with the drivers from Nvidias website and now Arkham works just fine with PhysX. It's definitely a dodgy PhysX driver from Mafia 2 that's screwing it up.

Oh if only there was a way to play it without the update. :p

Its fairly clear from the above and by reading up a little its the developers implementation thats buggy.

Physx rocks hard.

You must have expected some sort of retort. :D

In all seriousness im not going to diss something i don't know too much about. From what i have read and seen on other forums the only people complaining about Physx are 'some' Nvidia users.

Someone from OC.net has found a workaround to get GPU physX working.

Uninstall Physx from Control Panel.

Go to Mafia 2 folder in Steamapps folder and manually install the Physx loader in there.

Go to Nvidia control panel and set Physx mode to CPU only, hit apply, set Physx mode to auto and hit apply.

Voila'

35fps on 2x overclocked 460's maxxed at 1080p instead of 10 in the refinery.........

There, i fixed that for you.

a demo... released on PC... THIS IS MADNESS!

I know, against the grain a tad isnt it.

Cheers for the tip gardav858, im waiting on a fix from the developer as id rather run it on the gpu and get the full goodness.
