Loud fan on start up

Hi,

I got my laptop in November 2020, I dont use it very often but when I do, every time I turn it on, the fan is really loud.
I have tried changing the operating mode and even set the fan to quiet but it is still loud.
If I change it from office to game mode or turbo mode, the fan obviously gets louder but should it be as loud as it is when set to office?
Anyone have any advice please?

I should add that it takes some time for programmes to start too like when I try to use Chrome or Firefox, it takes a while and when I am trying to click into something to put my name or login, it takes a bit of time too,

Have you still got bullgaurd installed?

Would be worth removing it for testing.

Have you reinstalled at any time?

Have you serviced the laptop since you've had it?

I do not have Bullgaurd installed nor have I reinstalled at all.
It hasnt been used that much since I got it, I was expecting to use it a lot but in the amount of time that I have had it, I would say I have used it maybe a total of 50 hours or so

It's worth monitoring temps with hwmonitor.

No, I havent had it serviced at all, I have had it on since I started this post and the fan is quiet now, has been for the past hour
Weird. When it next goes loud on the fans, run HWMonitor and check temps and have task manager open checking CPU load just to see what exactly is using the processor / GPU.

That will help narrow down the cause.

Could be a number of things, if you're not using it too frequently it could even just be system updates applying in the background or something.

Thank you, I will keep an eye on it :)

I have Avast
It's well worth having a read of this, Avast is nothing more than malware these days.

It actually performs worse than windows defender at protection anyway, so you're increasing your exposure to infection, that's aside from their dubious tracking and data collection attitude which is quite frankly illegal.

I'll get rid of it, i had only installed it last week, had just Window Defender until then. I didn't shut it down last night, just put it into sleep and when i switched it on today it was quiet as a mouse.

You have to use the official uninstaller, it won't uninstall by removing it normally via programs and features.

But with stuff like this, it causes so much damage to the OS, it's best to do a clean install IMHO
