Looking to put a GPU into a new build

Hey there,

Got a question relating to a build that I am planning on purchasing from the site - i'm planning to purchase my GPU seperate
My case of choice that i'm going for uses the dimensions 466x230x462 (HxWxD)

(CORSAIR 3000D AIRFLOW MID TOWER GAMING CASE)​

My choice of GPU will be the RTX 4070 SUPER Founders (directly from NVIDIA's website) which has an approximate dimension of 267x112x42 (also HxWxD)

TLDR: Buying GPU externally, purchasing the other internals + case from here, will it fit in case w/ the other parts and the given case dimensions properly?

The max GPU dimensions for the case can usually be found in the case specs on the PCS website or on the Corsair website.

However, now is not a great time to be buying a GPU because the next gen are announced/released in Q1 next year.

We’d also suggest you have a rethink on that build in general, as there are lots of things that are sub-optimal.

Well, definitely nothing from Intel, and especially nothing in the i9 range, plus something with a PSU suitable for a gaming rig.

The current gaming daddy is the AMD 9800X3D (12th gen Intel is 4 generations old).

But we’d need to know of any other significant uses other than gaming to see if the 9800X3D is best matched to your use case, and what resolution/refresh rate your monitor is.

My refresh rate is 180hz, 2560x1080 - I tend to use my current PC for other software outside of entertainment such as Blender too

I definitely wouldn't buy the 4070 Super, it's under provisioned with regards to VRAM for the 1440p it's targeting. With regards to VRAM it's more of a 1080p card, and it's just woefully poor value for 1080p. That's assuming you're wanting Ray Tracing. If you're not interested in that, then an AMD card would be a far better alternative.

But either way, buying a current gen GPU makes zero sense when the new cards are being released in a few weeks.
