It's a model first produced in (I think) 2017 and hasn't been updated since then. It's also virtually the same price as a 27 inch panel.

So do they exist? Yes. Would I recommend? No.
If desk space is an issue for a 27 inch then (as others have said) attach the monitor to a desk clamp or ... umm ... buy a bigger desk?

I have a massive desk to be honest, I just mainly use it for paperwork etc so don't want to fill it up is all

Hm might look into getting the 27 g5 then and mounting it.

Apart from that, would you say my spec is about right now?

I was looking at some videos etc and they were saying the 1440p would probably need a higher gpu than the ones I've looked at?
If I was going for 1440p, I'd get my current spec,

But if I did decide to go for a smaller screen and 1080p, what spec would you suggest for the actual tower? Or would it be pretty much the same?

So if I went 1080p, is there any reason I shouldn't keep the 3070? Or would it just be a waste and not perform any better than the rtx 3060?

Measured the screen size with the study room I have, and I think 27 inches is gonna be way too much for the room I have (first house problems)



Looks like I'm looking at maybe 20-22 inches if anyone has any monitor recommendations? 1440p or 1080p, but again, speed is more important to me than looks. Recommendations appreciated :) then I can FINALLY get this order sent off! :)

You're measure corner to corner right, so it's not 27" across, it's more like 24"?

You'd have to get 1080p then, will reduce your experience exponentially, for a modern system it's a really bad idea.

But the AOC would be the one to go for.

Yeah I measured across,
Coming from laptops anyway, I don't think I'll really notice the quality difference since I haven't had it in the first place
I could always buy a monitor upgrade further on down the line (with the gpu upgrade - unless you'd recommend keeping the 3070 on anyway, or deffo changing to the rtx360?)

Would this be just graphics wise? I can't imagine it would make anything run slower etc?

If you're able to consider a monitor upgrade in the future then space can't be an issue?

I don't really understand when people say space is an issue personally, I don't think people understand how modern monitors don't sit on stands, you're supposed to mount them. You could have a 1ft x 1ft desk and still comfortably mount a 32" 4k monitor, wouldn't take up any space on the desk at all.

For the sake of cosmetic niceties, you're reducing the gaming experience significantly. Just because you've never experienced a modern resolution doesn't mean that's a good case for not stepping up to it? I'm sure you wouldn't opt for a 17" CRT television with 640 x 480 resolution when everyone else is on 42" 4k flat screens?

I'm not understanding the reticence when the budget is there for more modern specs. It's your build of course, but I'm not sure you're understanding what mounting a monitor means, or how out of date 1080p is these days, it's like stepping back to an old 17" CRT TV. Just because you're not used to modern standards doesn't mean you don't choose them when upgrading?

Yes, obviously graphical. You're seeing almost 50% less pixels, so you see less of the picture that's available.

As I said,
I don't game very often, and when I do its the likes of old school runescape,
So I would prefer to have more of my desk available for other use than having something I personally wouldn't notice in the slightest. I don't care what other people are running or using, as I'd buy the same setup as them if that's what I was after, and would therefore just buy a prebuild pc...
I'm not sure on the idea of mounting it as I want it to be a pc not a TV, and that's just my preference, like mounting it is yours. I prefer to sit up to the desk instead of back slightly, so I find smaller screens work for me. Especially since my current laptop is only 14 inches anyway and I get on with it fine.
Space definitely IS an issue, as its our first house and is tiny. I was referring to upgrading should we end up eventually purchasing a bigger house where I don't have to worry about huge monitors taking up space...

I appreciate you guys trying to get me the best gaming experience, but the reality is I need the best experience speedwise, and for a small compact setup (not a laptop before you say). I need it to be functional, not flashy and modern.
I'll leave that to the people like you guys who can appreciate the difference.

I personally would like the fastest general pc that gives okay graphics, in a 24 inch or below screen size. I appreciate any help with this, but please respect that is why I am on the forums to find recommendations to help me find what I am looking for, not what other people are looking for...

This thread is quite a one to follow! I totally get where you're coming from. It's a pity in a way to spend this much on a 24" experience, but if that's what works for you that's what works for you! This would be the ideal build for that setup (modified v. slightly from up-thread). It's definitely a "luxury" 1080p build, but it also has all the potential to last 7+ years and be upgraded if you ever decide the 27" 1440p life is the one for you.

The AOC monitor @SpyderTracks linked to is definitely the one to go for as well.

Looks like I'm gonna be looking at going to a few more shops to decide finally since currys didn't actually have any of these monitors in stock in the shop 🙄 my main problem with the 27 inches is how on earth I'd mount it, and then getting the correct mount etc...

If that's my idea 1080p setup, what would be the ideal for a 27" 1440p setup?
If I can get to grips with how to mount it, what I'd need and whether it would fit, I could maybe try to give the 27 a go since I don't want to waste the money when it is a matter of space mainly... at least then it could last longer and not need upgrading as soon? What do you think?

Monitor mount it connects to the desk, this can support a 27" monitor

They're universal mounts, VESA is a standard format on any monitor.

You can either get mounts that screw into the desk, or clamps that often make more sense, or wall mounts.

There's nothing clever to it, it's very standard.

For 1440p you want exactly the same build but with a 3070/6700XT in it.

What you need is something called a VESA desk mount: there are loads available in all kinds of different styles, such as this one for £22 on Amazon. Then you just need to make sure that whatever monitor you buy has a VESA mounting system (they almost all do).

Thankyou for that :) will get to the shops when I'm not at work and see if I could learn to love the 27 inch monitors :')
