Looking For Advice

Haven't had a PC in a while so out of the loop with what is good etc. My budget for the PC itself is around £1200 to £1300, I will look at all the extras at a later date.
It will be mainly used by my son who is 11 and getting into PC Gaming but I will also be getting back into it with Battlefield etc. The PC would be for a mixture of gaming, photo editing and potentially some light video editing, but not essential. I will get a monitor to match the PC but like I say that will be later but any suggestions are welcome.

Hi mate, you're compromising in some key areas that will yes work but in a few years could run into problems or bottles necks

I've readjusted the build below and although it's out of the budget it's a much more balanced system. The problem is that there seems to be few options for GPU selections in stock making it difficult to get something right on budget

The below is a very very solid 1440p build though

What will you be looking to spend on a monitor? You will need to match the build to the monitor. There's no point choosing a 1440p graphics card like the 3060 Ti if you're going for a 1080p monitor. A 1080p monitor starts at £150, whereas 1440p monitors start near £300.

There's not much else to choose on the configurator mate except the 2060 and the price difference between that and the 3060Ti at the minute you might as well go for the 3060Ti

It's significantly less powerful, the 660XT is a 1080p GPU and a good one.

The 3060Ti is a 1440P GPU which is almost double the amount of the pixels. It has a lot more beef, I have one and I'm running almost everything at 144FPS at 1440p

If you're going to be getting a 1080p monitor, get the 6600 XT. If you're going to be getting a 1440p monitor or if you're going to be doing heavy video editing work, the 3060 Ti would be the best choice.

normally its easier to do it the other way round, match the build to the monitor rather than monitor to the build

I'd say you're over speccing on the motherboard. The B550 is excellent and more than enough for the 5600x

I also doubt you'll see much of a difference in cooling between that Frostflow and the Standard AMD option. The 5600x isn't an overly hot chip so the standard cooler works quite well

Also the Silver Warranty is a bargain for a fiver mate

Case selection is good if you prefer that one

If you wanted to stretch your budget a little more the below changes would give you much better longevity
