Looking for advice for gaming PC.

Just though I'd chime in with a counter thought. I've recently got a AMD 3600X/1660 Super set up with a 1080p/144hz monitor after not having a decent computer for a long time.

It's is astonishingly good compared to the off the shelf machines I've had in the past. It smashes all the work/productivity stuff and 1080/144 gaming is amazing after years of using a PS4. I got help here that meant I could maximise my budget and get exactly what I needed.

I know 1440 would probably blow my socks off and in many ways if you can realistically stretch your money, waiting to see what the higher cards can offer is best.

Just worth saying that as a newbie to this malarkey - the budget end is still pretty damn good too if you follow the sage advice of the folks here.
The way we try to look at it is that if you design a PC properly, the platform is strong enough that it will allow for any tier GPU upgrade during the lifetime of the build which will be 7 - 10 years.

All of us will find that our circumstances change over that time period, weather that's our budgets, or our preferences or both, so when you start out with your PC, you may be happy with 1080p, but you may find in a couple of years when you've got £500 saved up, you're ready for 4k 144Hz or superwide or something.

We will design it so the base of the PC will handle that massive upgrade to a beefy GPU down the line, so that rather than having to buy a whole new system for £2000 or something, all you need is a newer more powerful GPU for £500 or so. The rest of the PC is strong enough so the new GPU won't be bottlenecked or thermally throttled.

Expect for 2 or 3 GPU upgrades during the lifetime of the PC to remain current.

I recently updated my computer, as in bought new one from PCS, CPU was 3800xt, it’s coupled with my GTX 1060 6GB card using an ACER 1080p 144 hz monitor.

currently playing Outer Worlds on pretty much ultra with zero problems.

Also play MSFS, The Witcher and bunch of other games.

it makes me laugh those that completely over spec cards for the types of games they play and the monitor they use.

bit like putting a 600bhp engine in a mini, then driving everywhere like miss daisy.
