Saw an advert for this, I'm a huge Danny Dyer fan (from his B rate movies which are sheer class, not east enders)

Looks fun

Superman Teaser Trailer...

Can this new actor top the crown off the great Christopher Reeves??

For me, Tom Welling did a good job of playing the role of Clark Kent in the Smallville TV show and Henry Cavill did a good job of playing the role of Superman, but...
Christopher Reeves is still the greatest at the role of both Clark Kent and Superman,

I would of liked the story of Henry Cavill Superman to of continued, i feel his story got cut off/ cut short with this new reboot, i would of liked to have see Henry's Superman face off with Darkside in future Justice League movies, but that not to going to happen anymore, Instead we have this new Superman reboot.

Henry Cavil has been the best Superman for me as far as the movie goes. As far as the actor goes it's been Reeve all day long. You bring that guy into this era and he would smash the role yet again, but have the effects to back it all up.

I'm curious about what they do with this one. There's promise for sure. I'm a huge Superman fan. I broke my arm in 5 places when I was 4 jumping off the top of my landing with a cape trying to fly.

The score gave me some goose bumps. It's a wee bit over the top and childish, but it's the original feeling back again!

Edit: I think the Luthor casting might steal the show a little. That's genius, how good does he look as Luthor!!

I'm so pleased about the Lex casting if who I'm thinking it is is correct. Since his first proper film as an adult, it was so left field, and so few actors could have pulled off that role. He's always played characters quite differently to how you'd expect most people would.

I think he's HUGELY underrated, and I'm hoping that this movie will blast him into the stratosphere.

The Score really took me aback, I wasn't expecting it, but it worked so damn well. I'm definitely getting the soundtrack to this one for that title tune.

Luthor is Nicholas Hoult. I've always rated him as an actor but as you've alluded to, he's not really had his shot. This could definitely be he one though, just his presence in the trailer was enough for me to stamp some authority and menace.

I watched Juror #2 the other day, the story is predictable and it calls for a bit of OTT acting but I thought he did well with it throughout. I've watched a number of his movies but Skins is where I recall him making his mark after about a boy.

Edit: Just noticed I wrote Luther the first time.... different character entirely :ROFLMAO: Coincidentally Alice in that show, as part of the supporting cast, absolutely stole the show. She made me want to take my chances as she sparked so much intrigue. What a performance.

Just in case you haven't watched it, Warm Bodies was his film I was referring to which I instantly saw him as something special.
I wasn't aware of Skins actually, just grabbing that now, cheers for the pointer.

Not forgetting his role as Beast in the younger X-Men films, Nux (the nitrous boy) in Mad Max Fury Road, co-starred in The Great with Elle Fanning, and not forgetting he played the titular Renfield with Nicolas Cage.

He‘s also got a decent role in the new Nosferatu film, so he’s kept quite busy, even if not in ‘star’ roles.

Yeah I seen warm bodies, I enjoyed it for a little but but fell away from it. I don't even know if I seen the end. He was great in it though.

This is the thing for me, I've seen him in all these roles and he has been fantastic (Other than Nosferatu), I just don't think he's been at the fore-front to shine in the audiences eyes though. Renfield was good but Cage stole the show with ridiculous overacting which was brilliant.

Really looking forward to seeing him in Nosferatu Mad Max Fury Road is what really sold me on him

I've been meaning to watch this for a while. Keep putting it on and getting distracted. Will watch over the holidays though :D

I’m so looking forward to Nosferatu, but I think a lot of people aren’t going to get it, as it’s going to be very un-hollywood

Eggers as director and writer, plus Nick Hoult and Willem Dafoe starring, you don’t need to read too much further to know it’s going to be very dark and a head twister

Apologies if this has been already posted, a work colleague recently informed me about it.

From the same creators as Love, Death And Robots, each episode is a tale from one of the classic games, the animation looks absolutely incredible. My colleague says it's killer

By the way, the music in the trailer is by M83, a French Band from their album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" which I think is their best album, if you like it, check out that and the Oblivion Soundtrack which starred Tom Cruise, both absolutely superb

Missed this one, been out for a little while. Recommended by one of the women in work that I normally talk shows with.

Landman. Nice simple title but the series is very engaging. Billy Bob Thornton in a role that I feel is made for him, I've never been a massive fan of his work but the odd role he absolutely nails and this is one of them...... I swear he actually is this guy.

Short synopsis..... Texas Oil - these companies need a fixer, the guy who gets things done..... that's him, rough as toast. The job alone is manic but then there's some serious curveballs from family etc, the scripting is brilliant, really good humour throughout.

It's finally one of those shows that you will know after one episode if it's for you or not. Give it an hour and if you don't love it, ditch it.

Anyone picked up Landman yet? Just finished it, honestly..... unbelievable. Just searched to see about Season 2 and seen that it's the most watched original show Paramount+ has had yet. 3rd highest viewing figures in 2024, and it only released late.

I genuinely think that if they had came up with a better title they would have a no.1 all round on their hands, it's that good. Landman though..... really? I'm not saying I could do that much better but someone got paid to come up with that.

Billy Bob Thornton's performance is top drawer, he carries the acting a fair bit but the rest do play significant parts. I can't stress how much I was never that much of a fan of his, this has completely 180'd me though. There are a few side lines, but they don't intrude too much like other shows tend to.

I’ve seen this on my feeds multiple times over the last few weeks and ignored it exactly because of the title!

Will check it out
It was someone in work that said to me about it. Said she rattled the season in 2 sittings so thought it was worth a look.

Genuinely, you will know in about 20 minutes mate. It's one of those few shows that puts the cards on the table quickly. Soooooo many series nowadays give you a cracking first episode, maybe 2, followed by a whole load of doldrum middle. You feel duty bound to stick with it due to how good it started. Sometimes the ending justifies it and it's popular, sometimes it doesn't and it's panned.

Landman is a rarity nowadays. It has came out of nowhere for me and not one single episode disappointed. Initially there was only one plot thread that I felt was un-necessary but they played it out pretty well and it's became poignant.

I can't see you being disappointed at all. Nor anyone for that matter. It's back to good old fashioned entertainment, with a welcome dose of realistic actions, consequences and reactions.

This may be a good one for my curmudgeonly father too as you’re describing it.

Thanks v much, downloading as we speak

I’m just rewatching 30 Rock by and starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin from the 00s

If anyone hasn’t watched it, personally I would put it up with Frasier for cleverness of the writing as well as the character stories. The progression is better laid out, they clearly had a vision right from the first season.

Its so damn stupid and uplifting, it’s one of my faves

I never gave Frasier a chance and I don't know if it would work for me nowadays. I actually wonder if I should give it a go, I don't want to ruin the idea of how good it was in my head though...... if that makes sense. Not everything stands the test of time and we get tuned in and out of what's good when nostalgia is taken out of it :D

I’ve just finished watching Frasier through probably for the 50th time.

Its so cleverly written, there are episodes where they imitate a particular style of cinema, the character richness is just superb, although Kelsey Grammar is fantastic, it was David Hyde Pierce that stole the show.

Its hasn’t aged at all IMHO, still stands up really well.
