Finally (although only just been ordered), another Gibson novel making it to TV (Peripheral from a couple of years ago was the last one based on one of his books/stories).

Yes, I know we have Johnny Mnmnmnmnomnmmic and Strange Days, but they're both 'vintage' now (but still very enjoyable).

Neuromancer coming to AppleTV+

I mentioned it here some time ago, so, here a link for the Dead Cells animated series.
(the 2 first episodes are out, and the other will come out every week)
It's in French dubbed, but they are the English subtitles ^^

Voilà !

I hope you'll enjoy it ^^

Edit : the subtitles are good ! they kept the French joke and adapted them in English (and not only translated it)

It’ll be my party trick once the malaise zombie apocalypse is upon us.

Although I was ready to binge-watch it and then realised there were only 2 episodes available :( so binge-watched Supacell instead.

Season 2 of Marvel's Hit-Monkey has just released in the US on Hulu/Disney+, and will be on Disney+ in other regions (not sure of the dates for other regions though).

Apologies if this has been mentioned but Longlegs certainly seems to be making waves!

Anyone seen this yet? Reviews seem quite mixed on it and most admit it's a bit of false advertising really.

My daughter loves horror, I do too, but she's more the jump scare type. I told her about this flick thinking it would be right up her street but the non-spoiler reviews are saying it's likely more my bag.

Not yet, but I've got a 12 year backlog of material to watch, so might take a while to get around to it ;)

Just finished Supacell.

Tag line on netflix, 10/10 perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Absolutely no idea where that rating came from as it was like pulling teeth getting through it.

The premise of the story is basically the boys, cept for teenagers. It's a complete rip off of so many other shows/movie characters. That being said, it copies things that I like so I actually quite liked the plot/tale itself. The biggest issue I have with it is how ridiculously slow the whole thing is. It's like they had 3 pages of screenplay and wanted to eek out 6 episodes. The back story and side plots are so thin and riddled with stereotypes that I'm amazed they got people to stick it out.

I'm no quitter so I got through it. I'll watch the second season just to get closure. My GF really, really, struggled with it though.

Could easily have been an hour and a half to 2 hour movie. Even 2 hours would have been a stretch to be honest. There are far more engaging movies with similar plot.

On the plus side. It's definitely been done right. Most of the cast are really good and the budget on effects was decent. There's a character Rod that absolutely saves the charisma of the cast. Without him it would have been an overwhelming conglomerate of bemusement, silence and depression.

I agree with a lot of this. The 7/10 rating on IMDb was lower when I watched it, but much more trustworthy than a 10/10.

The first episode did enough to pique my interest, even if it felt familiar to what is already out there, and the final episode was easily the best of the season, but the four in the middle were just a bit bland and cliché. Top boy meets The Boys, with a bit of time travel thrown in.

My biggest gripe by the end was that they didn't actually explain any of the interesting bits that well and I ended the series still not really understanding what was going on due to a lack of explanation.

With the Crowdstrike shenanigans going on we watched The Net last night. You can draw some imaginative parallels with the fictional company "Cathedral Software" and their gatekeeper program :D

I typically avoid movies and TV shows based on video games because they're often pants, but this is certainly looking promising. Just settling down to the first episode now.

Also curious to see how the Borderlands movie coming out later in the year does. Fallout and Borderlands have been two of my favourite video game series in recent years, so I hope they don't muck them up too severely!
Final trailer for the Borderlands movie has dropped.

Looks pretty good, looking forward to this one

Due for release on 8th August

And it's Deadpool and Wolverine tomorrow!!!

It does look pretty good, but I'm still skeptical. The scene where Tiny Tina says she's the only one who can open the vault is either badly edited, or there's a massive change in Borderlands lore from the games - only Sirens can open vaults, and Tina has never been even hinted at being one in the games so far.

Deadpool and Wolverine does look really good though!
