With buying an enclosure to for my old laptop hard-drive, I know it was a SATA HD so I have to get a SATA enclosure but is there anything else important in terms of compatibility that i need to look for to ensure it will fit- i preume as a laptop hard drive it will be 2.5"?

thanks for this, also do you know how thick a 750gb laptop hard drive would be- several of the enclosures I've been looking at seem to have size limits which seem to be linked to the gb size of the drive...

There are 3 sizes, the old 12.5, the more standard 9.5 and the newer 7mm, most are 9.5, newer drives are 7mm. You'll have to look up the model of the drive you have (you can find out in device manager) to find out the exact thickness.
