Laptop screen won't go above 40% brightness

Was just playing Total Warhammer II and suddenly my screen brightness just went dark. So I saved everything, to proceed to give my system a reboot after reinstalling my graphics driver; no change.
Set my brightness to the lowest and slowly adjusted the brightness, after it goes past 40%, the screen goes a little darker then has a slight flicker to it when you concentrate at it; any brightness of 40% or lower works completely fine.
I've performed nothing to service the system physically, not even taking the keys off the keyboard to clean it or anything. Only maintainence I've performed is while the system is off is to give the surfaces a wipe over with a monofiber cloth and flat screen cleaner.

Any help? (This is the system I bought;
Vyper Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD 45% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)"

Unfortunately this is likely a hardware issue with the screen.

If you play with the brightness and listen close to the panel you may hear some electrical arching. I think the backlight has a bad connector.

I'd give PCS a call first thing tomorrow.

Ah, didn't even hear anything because of headphones. Didn't even think to check. Yeah when the problem occurs theres a slight whurring sound.
What would you say could be causing this issue? And what time does PCS open in the morning?

Yeah, I think what's happening is the backlight inverter is arching to another component. It will need a replacement screen.

I believe PCS are open at 9am, telephone, don't email as that will take ages for a response.
