Laptop Screen goes black after turning a dark mottled Green and the screen fades out

My laptop screen as of last night suddenly goes various colours, mainly like a dark mottled green then darkens (almost like a burn effect spreading over the screen) then over 3 to 4 seconds the black spreads outwards to all areas of the screen and if I wait a few seconds then press the power button then a few seconds later press it again then after a few seconds either 1 or 2 presses on the power button will see the screen come to life again

The laptop is working well except I also noticed that the File Explorer window was totally rearranged when I got back into the laptop, the quick access bar was gone and the layout was different. No files appear to be corrupted or gone.

This process happens every few minutes and I have to go through the same process again and again.

I need to know what this may be and if it can be fixed.

I have had to have the motherboard replaced already by PCSpecialist and even after that a usb port failed but I was told it was after 3 months from replacement board so no free repair.

The laptop does not feel hot, the fans are not running excessively and there are no obvious issues with Device Manager.

Each time I go through the process the laptop operates well and responds as always.

Can anyone tell me what this may be, I would really appreciate your help.

Have you serviced the laptop since you’ve had it? Ie removed heat sinks and fans to clean dust and repaste the cpu and gpu?

Unscrewed the base and blew out anything I could see which wasn't much, but not confident taking it much further
So that's the first thing you need to address, fully taking off the heatsinks, removing the fans, cleaning out any dust and repasting.

Any custom performance laptop needs full servicing once a year or will overheat.

When it starts overheating it's operating outside it's designed thresholds, this puts stress on solder joints, and after time, eventually the actual silicon, as they deteriorate, the first thing to go will be the GPU, but this can often take out the motherboard at the same time.

The symptoms you're describing could be related to

1/. Overheating GPU, as it's not been serviced, that's the first thing to be sure is corrected
2/. physical LCD damage of the screen, unlikely, would normally be due to pressure applied to the panel due to a drop or heavy knock.

Until 1 is corrected, we can't determine any further.

ok not sure what to do or what paste to get
I'd recommend just getting Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet as it doesn't degrade like paste does, so you just apply it once and that will do for the lifetime of the laptop.

You'd still have to clean out heatsink fins and fans of dust, but you'd never need to repaste

A 50 x 50 sheet should do both the GPU and the CPU
