Laptop for gaming and work

Hello all, I'm quite the gamer but not really into what's what on the hardware point, my desktop is getting old now and isn't what I require now, so I am wanting to replace with a laptop that will be required for multiple uses, the two most important uses are gaming of course and university but will also be used for work, due to this it must be quiet when being used for normal use.

After abit of looking through threads on here and looking around other brands specs uses etc this is what I have put together can anyone see any issues with this spec for what i am after, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks good to me.

One thing to add, if you're looking to retire your desktop, you can legitimately transfer the license to the new laptop thereby saving just over £100.

All you do is tie the license to you microsoft account like this:

If you're using a local account, use this guide to link your Windows 10 product key to your Microsoft account for easier re-activation.

Then install windows fresh on the new laptop and log in with that microsoft account, job done.

Thanks for the replies guys, you're a big help.

There isn't much evidence noise wise for the recoil chassis, and is this spec going to be future proof, for example in 5 years time is this laptop still going to be relevant and capable (isn't that the age old question) I know that no-one can predict the future but this isn't my realm of expertise.

Gaming wise what I'm enjoying at the moment is some Destiny 2 and GTA 5 (cannot wait for 6) when I have a laptop ill be able to game more so this will expand. Work wise there will be lots of documents normal work stuff and some coding.

No laptop will be relevant in 5 years, the GPU will be the first bottleneck, you’ll have to start reducing settings in about 3 years. That’s the trade off of a laptop.

Oh interesting, is it worth updating to the 2080 Max Q then to hopefully extend its future capability?

With a laptop yes, it's always worth speccing the highest GPU you can afford, although the MaxQ versions are significantly lower than their normal counterparts, so a 2080 Maxq would be about the same performance as a 2070 Super mobile card.
