Which chassis have you got? 9 times out of 10, if the fan is running at high cycles it's because there are overheating issues, best check your temps.
I have the optimus iv 2014 model 17.3"
As you can see from the screen shots when idle the fan is pretty quiet sometimes I cant hear it at all and in the other screen shot when gaming for example world of tanks, world of warships and GTA V the fan is running at 100% speed and is pretty loud a lot louder than my desktop fan which even at full speed you can't hear much but the laptop fan is so loud at full speed it's louder than the tv in the room.
Is this to be expected with a gaming laptop?
