Laptop crashing with blue screen of death

Hey all, hope someone can help me out!

I purchased the Fusion Series: 15.6 laptop around 15 months ago & for the most part it has had the odd crash here and there. Just get a blue screen and then laptop restarts. I've tried to google without really getting anywhere with any solutions.

It was crashing when i was charging initially - so i made some changes to the battery that i found the solution for on Google. That appeared to work. But it's started to crash again. Tonight i was simply watching Twitch and it's crashed again.

It's really really frustrating and frankly i've had enough now!

Anyone have any ideas or solutions as to what it could be or how i can fix?

Thanks!

What are your system specs? Also, does the BSOD provide you with an error code or anything text to indicate what it might be?

Hi - spec is as below.

Sorry - i'm pretty clueless with computers - what does BSOD mean exactly?
I've deleted those images as they had your windows license.

If you can just copy and paste the text and obviously delete the windows license.

BsOD is the windows blue screen of death error code.

i'll get it downloaded now. I don't think this is the problem though? Usually i have all the updates downloaded and it's still crashed.
If you've never installed those optional updates then windows has never been properly configured

ah ok. I'll get them all downloaded then! Hopefully that fixes it!

Thanks for your help all! I'll come back if it crashes again with the error code!

If it BSODs again there should be a kernel dump in the file C:\Windows\Memory.dmp. Check the file date and time to ensure that it's current and, if so, upload it to the cloud with a link to it here.

If there is no kernel dump then look in the folder C:\Windows\Minidumps for any mini dumps that are relevant. Again, check the date and time stamps and upload any that are current.

Also upload your System and Application logs are described here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/when-youre-seeking-help-with-a-bsod.71885/#post-568901.

The only way to pin down the cause of these dumps is through the kernel or minidump memory dump files and/or through your event logs, so it's very important that you upload these for us.

Hi All,

I've downloaded all the available updates and still continue to have issues.

I don't seem to have folder C:\Windows\Memory.dmp.

I have a mini dump from back in September - there was one earlier this morning but there is no file for that for some reason.

I have no idea how to upload anything to the cloud - is there a link to tell me how to? I tried googling but couldn't really see anything.

If you use windows, then onedrive is built in, just copy the file there, then right click and click "share", and then make it editable for anyone with the link, then post the link here.

I don't seem to have folder C:\Windows\Memory.dmp.
Are you looking for a folder or a file? It's a file, won't be in the folders section. There may well not be one, just to be sure you're not looking for the wrong thing.

no problem. The forum message suggested zipping them.

I've no idea what that dump.txt file is, a memory dump always has the .dmp suffix.

In any case the System log reveals the source of your problem. I suspect that you may have a hardware isssue there (probably from new). Your log is filled with WHEA (Windows Hardware Error Architecture) warning messages for the same device, here's an example...

The device with PCI identifiers VEN_8086&DEV_02B0 is your PCI Express Root Port #9. You thus either have missing or bad chipset drivers or you have a hardware issue. The actual crash error record in your System log is also a WHEA error but there's no way to interpret the raw data in that particular error, but it's pretty much guaranteed to be that root hub.

My best advice to you (and what I'd do in your situation) is to first check that all drivers are up to date, especially the chipset drivers. Windows Update normally finds all drivers, they will be in the Optional Updates section of Windows Update. If that doesn't help then the best thing you can do is to fully clean install Windows again, deleting all UEFI partitions and allowing Windows Update to install all drivers that it can.

If it crashes after a clean install then you have a hardware problem. Based on what you've reported here my gut feel is that you likely do have a hardware issue on there....
