Just Took The Plunge With This Elimina Pro 16" Laptop

I was in the market for something that would hold it's own video editing, play a few games, browse the web and watch Youtube videos. I also wanted something with the boot up speed of our Chromebook that me and my partner currently use. After 2 weeks making what felt like 9 million different configs of different laptops, I finally settled on this:

Chassis & Display
Elimina Pro Series: 16" Matte QHD 240Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen (2560x1600)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 14 Core Processor 13700H (5.0GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair 3200MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 4060 - 8.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 530 GEN 4 PCIe NVMe (up to 7300MB/R, 6000MB/W)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB CORSAIR FORCE MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 4950 MB/R, 4000 MB/W)
Battery
Elimina Pro Series Integrated 62Wh Lithium Ion Battery
Thermal Paste
LIQUID METAL PERFORMANCE COOLING
Sound Card
Nahimic by SteelSeries 2 Channel HD Audio
Wireless Network Card
GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 + BT 5.0

What makes it even sweeter is that at the moment, the AX211 wifi card is currently cheaper than the AX201 due to the price PCSpecalist brought them in at. I've also paid for the 5 day build and less than an hour after paying for it, it's already in the build process. My initial budget was £1200 but pushed it a few hundred quid more to hopefully keep me and my partner happy for the next 3 to 5 years all being well.

I'm thinking about almost the exact same build, except with the 17.3 inch screen because I wasn't sure about the aspect ratio of the 16 inch one. Was that one of the 9 million configs you looked at (I've done the same!), and if so, how did you choose between the two? And is there a benefit to getting the 2x 1TB SSD drives you went for, vs. a single 2 TB drive? Thanks!

Hi lvl8. :) 2 things pushed me towards the 16:10 display. 1. I'm massively impatient and the 17.3" wasn't available but the 16" one was. 2. I too at first discounted anything other than a 16:9 display as that's what I've always known. But after looking into many reviews about 16:9 Vs 16:10 I realised that change wasn't as scary as I first thought. :D After using the laptop for a few days now I can wholeheartedly say that I am loving the 16:10 display. The downside of having very small black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when watching any sort of videos really doesn't bother me at all because the picture quality is soooo good in my opinion. The upside of the 16:10 screen is that you can fit more of everything else on the screen. More webpage, more game, more room for video editing, just more of everything which massively wins out for me.

As for the drives, I too was going to save a few quid and just have 1x 2TB Firecuda. But after reading another load of reviews, it just come down to this one fact for me. If a drive went down, would I prefer to loose 100% of everything or 50% of everything?

There is only 2 downsides that I've found with this laptop so far. 1. Get ready to live near a plug socket. With everything running at it's full potential, it loooves the electrons from the battery. I can go from near 100% battery to 20% in a couple of hours or so. But that's only because I've turned down/off most of the power saving options. :D The 2nd downside is it makes ALOT of noise when things get hot. As soon as I fire up Snowrunner, the fans start going like crazy to keep everything cool. But that's nothing a pair of headphones cannot fix if it got bothersome. But to be fair, when you pack this much punch into something that's a few inches thick, it's going to make noise. :D

To give you idea on the screen. Here's a youtube video with the black bars:

If you're seeing this on a 16:9 display, scroll to the very top and see how much of the page you can see as I can see down to the wireless card part. :D

I hope that helps with your choice. :D
