Im actually kinda horrified that no one has mentioned just how massive an overshoot you've done...

If your main uses are web browsing/word processing/streaming videos to watch etc with occational gaming, you are burning a LOT of money on something that will be hardly used.

A 5600X CPU on a Tuf 550 board, match it with a GPU thats paired to whatever monitor choice you've gone for... the only "luxury" worth taking is the 32GB RAM (specifically for MSFS 2020) other than that a solid 5600X gaming rig would more than meet your needs.

It’s a worldwide stock shortage, it’s affecting everyone unfortunately.
At the moment the worst affected are 3080, RX6800XT and the 3060ti, the rest don’t seem too bad.

but those you could be waiting up to 100 working days.

The 3070 is one of the better stocks, usually despatched in around 15 working days.
100 days wow. well i spent about a week looking for a 3070 and gave up

The "go big or go home" is going to cost you about £500 extra....
This would still be a considerable overshoot for your current use estimates, and would be a solid gaming rig for 1440p gaming, including the added luxury of 32GB for stuff like MSFS 2020, still includes the RGB RAM and a separate drive for games and has good upgrade potential.

If its already being built, then fair enough if you are happy to swallow the cost, if its still pre-production you can very easily amend the order (you can amend it without paying any amendment charges right up until it goes into build).

The 6700XT also has a decent waiting time, so you wont be caught for weeks and weeks.

I dont know the full story, not sure I clocked what monitor you would be using, but just as a rough guide, £500 is a new GPU upgrade in 2 years time... I'm just concerned you are burning a lot of money for no real reason, and have been swept along with the hype and bloodlust of a bunch of us computer-geeks as we lust over new tech...

there's probably some truth to that ha

but dont worry about me. i'm a quasi enthusiast myself but have been out the PC Tower game for about 10 years due to living in London and having no proper office/space for anything other than a laptop.... and boy do i hate laptops.

but now i have the space i want to get something mega (by my standards)

Fair enough.

A 5800X is an excellent CPU for gaming, and capable of much more (If I had a choice, I would of taken a 5800X myself)
Its a decent build, but i strongly suggest you also take up some video editing, photoshop and start a youtube channel for yourself as well to get your moneys' worth

Davinci Resolve is totally free and a nice bit of video editing software (to get you started :p )

So my computer all dispatched now
Took just 5 working days

it would be coming tomorrow but I have had to delay the delivery until the Sunday as I have to work

I have just ordered the 32inch G7 Samsung to go with from AO.com with £20 off

I don’t have a keyboard tho so need to pick one of those up now before Sunday. All I have is a mouse I have had the MX Master for a couple of years - I am pretty happy with keeping that

Beautiful monitor, well worth it  Will fit and look very nice with your tower.

i got my new computer today via DPD.

very happy with it. looks amazing. works great.

but i do have a few comments;

1. It wasn't packaged very well. Its a very heavy computer but came in not a very strong, single layered brown box with patch work styrofoam sort of padding. The box was tearing through at the handles where it had handled in transit. But fortunately all good inside. But was certainly at risk from a rough delivery driver.
2. The box of 'extra bits' cable ties/mortherboard bits/manuals was again in a box too small for purpose, bursting open with some bits loose in the main box.
3. It would be nice if they let you choose if you would like the 'PC Specialist' branding logo stuck on the front of your tower. It came of my 5000X glass case quite easily but I would have been annoyed if it didn't.
4. I chose not to have a Windows licence when I ordered, but actually it came installed (albeit needing installation key) which was nice, saved me a download.

Maybe I am being fussy, all in all very happy, but would have been nice if it was presented a with a bit more care.

More annoying than all of that however, is the Samsung G7 monitor comes with a super short DisplayPort cable! But its a great monitor too.

I would recommend a clean install of Windows. PCS installs a version to test your PC if you don’t order with an OS, but it can’t be guaranteed to work properly.
Ha

Really?

Well good advice perhaps but I’m too lazy. I’m a sort of medium windows expert - I actually still fairly vididly remember version 3.0!

another good tip though is you can get windows 10 for free if you have a working university/education email address

Yeah you'll just have generic drivers for all of your hardware, the test OS wont be set up with them. I'd recommend removing that version of windows and starting from scratch getting all the correct drivers. It could cause you problems and you'll not get the best performance from your parts
