Is this possible?

I got a quote for a PC but I have a question for someone who works for them.
I already own a 5800x as I was planning on building one myself, but the 3080 shortages have made me turn to ordering one rather than failing to get one.

Is it possible to order a PC without the processor?

None of us here actually work for PC Specialist, we’re just a group of satisfied customers, tech enthusiasts and people that enjoy assisting others 🙂

But to answer your question, PCS only sell complete systems. So there must be a processor in the purchase, for testing purposes to ensure you have a fully working build. The only exception to this is the graphics card and OS, they can use a test card / Windows and then ship.

Would you like some advice on the system? You’ve nailed the majority but there might be a couple of areas we could improve upon 👍

The majority of the members of the PCS Forum don't work for PCS but we're happy to help with queries or questions like this one! Sadly, no you can't, likely due to warranty reasons, about the only part you can buy a PC without is the graphics card. You can also add your own drives as long as you have a boot drive specced on the original build

If you'd still like to go ahead with the purchase and would like some advice on this build (which looks like a great start I must say!) we'll need some more info, namely, your budget, monitor info (make and model or resolution and refresh rate) and what you'll be using the PC for.

I must also warn you, with the high demand and low supply, the wait times for 3080 builds are long. Current wait times for 3080's sit at about 100 working days, 140 calendar days or about 4 months. There's a thread that follows this all here For 3070's and 3090's the waits are much better (should be a few weeks for 3070 and a few months for 3090 from last time I checked)

Thank you all for the replies and offers of help.
My budget would be around €2500 (I know the build I posted is over that 😂), I currently have two monitors that I definitely will be upgraded one of them soon (1 x 19in Dell monitor [not sure of model], max res 1440*900, 1 x Philips 244E1SB, max res 1920*1080). My current PC has a 1060 6gb and an i5-6600k, and I've been wanting to upgrade to play games like Cyberpunk. I tried to run the Avengers game on my current PC and only low seemed to run without issues, but looked like this: Any help in picking parts would be appreciated.

How soon do you plan to upgrade this monitor and what do you plan to upgrade to? A 1440p 144hz display would be a lovely upgrade from what you're currently running. You could comfortably fit a PC for those specs and monitor into the budget you have, or do you have a seperate budget for that monitor, of so, what is it? We could give some suggestions based on what you plan to upgrade to!

I budgeted about €600 for a new monitor, but no idea what kind. I could get it around the same time I pull the trigger on the new build.

For a gaming build, this would be a lovely spec. I've personally swapped to the TD500 as the 5000D is a very large case and only comes included with 2 fans, where as the TD500 comes with 3 as standard and is a more 'normal' size Alternatively, you could order the 5000D but I'd recommend calling up and requesting 3 Corsair LL fans to be put in the front for better cooling. Kept the RAM. For a 1440p 144hz monitor, the 3070 is the card to have and the 3080 would simply be overkill (as well as extending your wait!). For storage, I noticed you only had a 250GB SSD, do you plan to add your own drives? I've upped the boot drive to a 500GB model and swapped it for a blisteringly fast Gen 4 drive, then added a 1TB SSD for games and a 2TB HDD for general files. If you plan to add your own drives then this can be played with. The RMx 850W is a great choice. For the 5800X you'll want to up it to the Corsair Capellix H100i CPU. These units come with high quality thermal paste already applied so the Artctic thermal paste isn't necessary. If you need WiFi the AX200 is a must, if not it can be removed all together and I've added the Silver warranty as it's well worth the 6 Euros.

For monitors, ASUS has a lovely 1440p 144hz IPS panel monitor called the VG27AQ that I know @Rakk owns and could give you some more thoughts on it. Other than that, I'm not too sure although I'm sure the other members could come up with some other suggestions!
