The usual questions, which you may have already answered.

Budget including monitor and tolerances.

monitor gfx card will be paired with

Types of games, expected quality

Applications planning to use

drop bull guard and change to Silver Warranty.

Also, only 1x500gb drive? looking at the specs I'm guessing gaming or something, think you will need a 2nd drive for storage and use the SSDm.2 for windows boot up.

Can you also provide a link to the spec too, so others could edit it easier and recommend changes

If you want to save £9 you dont need the thermal paste :) you could drop that and as stated above by gavras drop the bullguard its known to cause isssue and upgrading to silver warrenty for £5 is a must covers carriage cost for a year rather then a month

Budget would preferably not go above the budget of that build, which is a little over 2.2k.

I have three monitors I'm looking to pair it with, they're all 1080p Acer K272HLEbid 27 inch.

I have a few games waiting for me (I pre-ordered Cyberpunk, but sadly my PC died shortly before it came out) Red Dead Redemption 2 etc. I'm not usually one to pre-order games, but I also don't want to feel limited by my specs for a year or two preferably. I'm hoping to play on Ultra for a year or two.

Applications: Occasionally Photoshop, Blender, but it's not a daily thing, although I'm hoping I'll be using them more frequently once the new rig arrives.

Asus rog strix 3080 is a massive chunk of money for 1080p ! Its designed for 4k gaming unless you would be getting a 4k monitor in future or at the least a 1440p ultrawide then it seems a area you could save alot of money

I was planning on taking the drive from my old PC and putting it in the new rig if needed, it's a 1tb, was probably going to use that for games storage etc.

Yeah, that does make sense, but after checking out benchmarks for specific games I play, for example Red Dead Redemption 2, even on 1080p it seems to struggle to average at 60fps on Ultra with anything less than a 3080, same with Cyberpunk, otherwise I probably would have gone with something more appropriate.

Exactly this, there is zero chance of justifying 3080 for gaming it 1080p and also on the worst size of 1080p screens.

@Stacey ACER do a couple version of that monitor model, have you go the 1080i or 1080p

Also refresh rate is around 75hz if remember right.

if going 3080p, you seriously need to change screens.

If going 3060ti, you need to think about changing screens.

You are watching the wrong videos.

Also a lot of games are badly optimised and certain features basically kill frame count irrespective of card or screen.

I also do not believe you will get higher than 75fps irrespective of what card you fit, the limitations are those terrible screens.

They’re planning to run 3 1080p screen...Nothing wrong with advising a 3080 if they have the budget for it.
If you’re going to be using apps like blender and photoshop, perhaps stretch your budget for an 8 core CPU

My bad, posted the wrong info for my monitors, they're actually k242HLBid 24" 60hz, not sure if that makes a difference though ?

I'm currently running RDR2 on a 1440p ultrawide screen with all settings at very high and I'm getting a stable 100FPS. And that's with a RTX 3070...

Something doesn't add up here.

While the pixels will be better, you are limited by the monitor refresh rates.

Yes RDR2 will get low frames on 1080p, it’s down to how it’s optimised.

it gets higher frame rates at 1440p, as games are like that.

it is utterly pointless going for 3080 with those screens.

a 3060 Ti would hit the limits of those screens.

I think even 3050ti would as well

It’s pointless, a 3070 would do, the screens have a 60hz refresh rate.

You do understand that right?

You could drop down to a 3070 and get a decent 1440p screen with the money saved I dont understand your screens are locked to 60fps cos its 60hz you could have 2 3090,s in it and it would still be 60fps btw we arnt having a go just want you to get best overall bang for your money but its your money can only advise :) if you do stand firm on 3080 def look to up the monitor :)

While the monitor is 60hz, I don't have VSync enabled, so I'm not limiting myself to just 60fps though ? My old PC was capable of hitting 100+FPS in some games with these monitors? Judging from benchmarks I've seen, usually FPS will decrease above 1080p as it's more taxing?

I do understand your point though about it being overkill, but I do want it to be somewhat future proof if I do decide to change out monitors. I had considered getting a new one now, but I do like three, and there's no way getting three 1440's are gonna be within my budget right now.

Please explain how with VSync off OP is gonna be capped at 60fps with a 60hz monitor? Btw I’m not having a go, just want to understand why you think that :)

Watching benchmark videos on YouTube is considered wrong? What kind of benchmarking videos do you watch ?
