Without knowing what it's for or your maximum budget, it's impossible to say weather it's at all suitable.

In addition to the normal internet browsing and so on i do ‘photo editing in Photoshop and the games I normally play are Football Manager and Stellaris. The cost is well within my maximum budget.

That doesn’t tell us the maximum budget though?

Youve restricted the build heavily, it’s definitely not what would be recommended, without knowing your max budget we have no idea how high we can go.

But that gpu will struggle at 1440p now let alone in a few years and you can’t upgrade the gpu in a laptop

Please help us to help you and give concise answers.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, does it have to be a laptop? £3.5k is a substantial budget and would build you a FAR superior gaming PC.

There just aren’t any suitable AMD chassis currently (new ones about to be released) and no one with any sense would recommend Intel that cover the high end

Good question. My main computer is a desktop … I’m thinking of adding a laptop to use use in conjunction with or as an alternative to the desktop.

Sorry, I don’t understand. I‘ve no preference between AMD and Intel. It’s just that the build looked fine to me but I’m certainty no expert which is why I posted the specification and asked for comment and help.

I think what SpyderTracks is trying to say is that the high end laptops on PC Specialist (i.e the ones with the higher end graphics cards) are all made by Intel, but it's been shown in the media recently that these CPU's are all defective and not fit for purpose, so no-one would recommend you buy one of them.

I think he was also saying that the 4060 isn't optimal for a 1440p display, but you can't put a 4070 (or above) in an AMD laptop at the moment. Hopefully this changes when the new chassis' are released.

All of which I agree with.

Sorry to be a pain, and I hope I’m not being stupid but what options do we have if all Intel CPUs are “all defective and not fit for purpose” and AMD laptops cannot support a good graphics card?

AMD laptops can support good graphics cards, it’s just they’ve been so popular they all sold out when they hit sales in March so there’s only entry level models left

At the moment, none, this is a very bad time to buy, there are new AMD laptops on the horizon which are set to be a major improvement across the board, so I would hold off a little while for those

Thank you. I‘ll hold off for a month or so and revisit things when the new AMD laptops are available.
