Salut Romain, (https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...10th-gen-march-2021-review.90639/#post-759963)

Was wondering if I could get some help from you??

Just got myself a Ionico 15.3" AMD Ryzen. I've installed Debian 12 with KDE plasma, and I am reasonably happy with it so far, except for a few hiccups...
I cannot get Bluetooth to be enabled, I cannot setup the RGB light on keyboard (other than basic F6 F7 hard key) and failed my howdy install.

I've played with Mint, Kubuntu, and KDE neon to see if a newer kernel might solve those issues, but without any success.

If you've got the time, I'd really appreciate a few pointers towards fixing those minor issues....

Thanks,

Is this a PCSpecialist system? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

Thanks, can you confirm the chassis model number from the sticker in the underside, will be either Clevo or TongFang with a model number

SpyderTracks

We love you Ukraine
sure, this is a : TongFang GM5HG5A
So that’s a different manufacturer to the OPs that was a clevo

For the keyboard lights, you can use OpenRGB

There is also Tuxedo which may be a better option:

I’m not certain about the bluetooth but I’m sure someone posted a workaround recently for a TongFang Bluetooth controller in Linux, I’ll do a hunt and see if I can find it

Thanks a lot for your help really appreciated.
I did try (without success) openRGB and I did install tuxedo control center but it couldn't control the RGB however your link to the tuxedo control center is not the same that I followed, so I'll try again...

Hello Jyves,
I would like to buy your same laptop (only with a RTX-4060 instead of 4050) and install Linux Mint. Can you share your experience with that?

1) Beside the bluetooth/keyboard issues, did you have any problem related to the GPU?
2) Did you install the Nvidia official driver or are you using the Nouveau driver?
3) Are you using the MUX/Nvidia-Optimus functionality or only the dedicated GPU?
4) If you are using an external monitor, is the HDMI works properly or are you using the miniDP? (I know the HDMI 2.1 has licensing issue prevents graphic cards from getting native Hdmi 2.1 in linux despite the card supporting this standard)
5) Is the laptop/fan noisy, especially during heavy-task/gaming?
6) Did you install extra drivers or everything works out of the box (besides BT/RGB)
7) Overall, how is the Linux experience on this laptop?

Thanks,
TS

I would not buy a laptop right now because they are old chassis at the end of the generation.
The new models will be unveiled at CES on January 6th.

A laptop at the end of its generation is typically not a good choice because it cannot be upgraded (the CPU and GPU are soldered to the motherboard) and its lifespan has already been nearly halved.

Is this still valid right now? I can see one model with the newer 4090, which suggests chassis options have been upgraded. Would you recommend still holding on?

4090 isn’t new, it’s old, new models have the 5000 series cards and far better CPUs

Yes, actually reading responses and taking in feedback would have saved 5 responses from both of us, I’m not going to do your work for you
There's literally no response in this thread that answered my exact question, which is why I asked it, if there is I invite you to quote it.

Lols! Have you been stewing on this for two weeks just to come up with that response?

Thats amazing! I’d still suggest you re read the thread as it was clearly highlighted.

I literally just logged in to check on laptops and saw your reply, I don't spend my life on this forum, you know.
I can see you cannot provide evidence that my exact question was answered, I'm glad we can agree I was correct in my statement then.
