Ionico as a "mid spec" laptop - your thoughts apprecited

Hi All

I've been reading the forum for ages trying to make the decision to pull the plug, or should that be push the button, on the spec below. I'm not a particularly heavy gamer and I've not played powerful games of the likes I see in the thread for some time. In fact my last graphic intensive game on laptop was probably a call of duty of some derivation or perhaps another FPS. What I do play is Civilization 6 with graphics to max but as a turn based thing its not massively power hungry. I'm replacing an old yet still usable ASUS gaming laptop (link below). Been interested hearing about which HDD to go for and I changed my spec to go samsung drive 1 games and OS and then a medium sized 2nd drive for pictures etc.

I know the spec says the smaller GPU and the bigger one will be available sooner but I just can't see me ever maxing out the 3060 (could be persuaded though). I was thinking of a second battery but do we think the life on the battery is going to be so bad that I could have 8 batteries and it'll still be crap?

Finally I chose the Ionico because the alloy case as I'm thinking the build quality will be that bit better - am I going to see much difference between that and the others in the range Elimina/ defiance etc?

Any other thoughts?

Oh and as an addition to this what I'm perhaps most keen on is to be able to sit on the sofa without listening to a massive fan noise so happy to hear thoughts on over spec machine to run cooler (is my thinking), normal machine with a laptop fan thing underneath (surely this makes noise), a set of headphones for those that dont want to hear my laptop :) - or some other miracle?

I am going to receive my Ionico 17 (with 3070) soon-ish (It's being assembled but since I don't live in UK, I'll be in the Fedex lottery next).

Just a couple of errata corrige:
- Ionico is in magnesium alloy, not aluminium. Nothing particular different, but keep that in mind.
- There's not a decent review out there of that machine, yet, but if you look at last year, you can find its clones,. Since the chassis is pretty much the same, I can guarantee you it won't be very silent, at least during gaming.
- It won't be very long lasting in battery either, as it's always is for those Gaming laptop. And I wouldn't buy a second battery now, because you can't use it alone (it needs the laptop to be opened, old battery unscrewed etc.), and a spare battery left alone is subject to deterioration anyway. So in like 2 years it'll be.. not as new. It'll be like a 80% of a brand new battery. So you better buy it from PCS once you actually need it, and perhaps ask them to replace it while at that.
- Ionico has a 1440p screen. Probably RTX3060 is enough to push it, but the better juice of the RTX 3070 surely will help. But I don't know very well the games you're playing.
- About the EliminaPro/Ionico vs the Elimina/Defiance, they are 2 different manufacturers. Ionico is from Tongfang, a pretty new manufacturer trying to dethrone the old king Clevo (the other one). TF puts a lot of new tech in its products: MUX switch to increase FPS in esport titles, Hello IR camera (it does have, despite PCS does not say it), Max-Performance on its GPU, 2160x1440 screens. Clevo is more for a reliable experience. They don't push much wattage on their GPU (they are classified as Max-Q, for quiteness), they don't offer a MUX, don't offer 1440p gaming screens but FullHD (or 4K in some cases but those are not for gaming IMO).

So I'd expect Clevos (Elimina, Defiance) being quieter than TF in general. As they push less wattage into those slim spaces. Probably would suit better your average Joe needs.
