Into the unknown with a gaming PC

Hey all - long time console player and very much part time PC gamer (most sim games or turn-based strategy).

With next gen consoles coming i thought rather than fork out for one of them i'd just go ahead and get the best of both worlds with a gaming PC - majority of my friends have gone this route so it's long overdue. I'm a little bit clueless when it comes to actual specs themselves outside of hard drive/RAM my knowledge is fairly limited.

Found this build on the website, just need to know if it would enable me to play the latest games (the likes of Cyberpunk, RDR2, Fallout, Warzone etc) as well as future proofing so that it could be easily updated in the future as and when.

Budget - i'm pretty open, ideally wouldn't go over £1,500
Monitor - would need to purchase one of these also.

The important question is what is your budget including the monitor? Really you want to buy a computer and a monitor that match/complement each other, otherwise you will be wasting money on one or the other.

Good to know. I'd go £1,600 all in if that would cover it all off, however, as mentioned though cold push it further if it made a significant difference.

Again thanks for this - appreciate all the replies. Just to cover off a few additional questions - is there are games these two build you guys have shared couldn't run or would it hold its own against the best of them?

27" is the going rate for 1440p. It'll have the same pixel density as 1080p at 24" so your eyes will just get more to see, rather than be blurred or more difficult to focus.

The 3060Ti will run anything VERY well.

This might sound dumb, so forgive me in advance (PC newbie!):

If I wanted to play online, would I need to include a wireless network card?

Would the above build handle streaming, too?

Scott

The wireless network card is already selected.....
Wireless Network Card
WIRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2,400Mbps/5GHz, 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD + BT 5.0

It will handle streaming just fine thanks to the Nvidia on-board encoder.

To get more intensive you would need to up the budget to include a 5800X and a decent cooler.

Dropping the OS in the build and buying a key separately saves about £80 - is this easy enough to do from a fresh build? Or not worth the hassle?

Final question, is there a big difference between these two motherboards? Not a lot of £ in it so more than likely will go for the X570-PLUS

Really depends where you are buying that key from as you run the risk that it is not a legitimate license for your use.

Hey guys, thought i'd post this final build for any additional feedback/changes before placing my order.

The only changes to the build is the Power Supply - the original 750w that was selected is out of stock. Plus added cooling to help handle some streaming whilst gaming perhaps and upgraded he motherboard slightly.

The graphics card is obviously on pre-order, but happy to wait for that as it'll hopefully make a big difference!

I would probably switch PSU to the 850W RM and stick with the stock cooler, but apart from that think you’re good to go!
Recent 3060ti builds from the tracking thread on the forum have taken around 25-35 working days, but obviously that’s subject to change as stock levels keep fluctuating.

Thanks - have updated it based on your recommendations. I'm happy to wait that little bit extra for the graphics card as it'll make a big difference.

Just out of curiosity, what's the reasoning for opting with stock cooler over the originally selected? Can only imagine its a case of if you're gonna get liquid cooling.. you may aswell get a good one rather than a cheap version? If it's even needed anyway.

I love your monitor - it's a great choice! Agree with the above - I'd also think that a Frosflow cooler isn't really worth extra money. Amd stock cooler with 5600x is really good. If you want an extreme performance in case it's always hot in your room and will do a lot of multitasking, but want to stick with air cooling, that your best bet is Noctua, but it's really not necessary. Amd stock coolers are great.

Psu 850w gives more room for future gpu upgradability. New future GPU will require more W. Having already an 850w you'd simply wouldn't need to worry about changing a PSU for at least 4-5 years, but most likely even for the whole PC life.

All makes sense to me - probably not needed then given what i'll be using it for.

Thanks everyone for your help here, feel somewhat more educated now than I did before that first post! Also will be placing my order now today, looking forward to getting things up and running.

With the cooling, you don't need anything over stock. Even when streaming as the GPU will handle the encoding rather than the CPU (Nvidia trick). If you were to opt for a cooler, you don't want to go for one for this build.... you want the next build in mind, so that you get your moneys worth. So we would always recommend the 240 as a minimum, H115i RGB is your high end. Noctua will do a great job too but air coolers don't have a place for me now with the value in AIO water coolers. If you're going to spend £60, get a decent water cooler.

10 days into my current order and I'm just considering whether it may be worth upgrading further as I have the budget to potentially take it further.

Would upgrading CPU from 5 5600x to 7 5800x, along with then an updated cooler below make a big difference to the machine? It works out around £180 or so to amend on my current order, but would just be a case of is there any knockon effects / need to upgrade anything else to cope with it?

10 days into my current order and I'm just considering whether it may be worth upgrading further as I have the budget to potentially take it further.

Would upgrading CPU from 5 5600x to 7 5800x, along with then an updated cooler below make a big difference to the machine? It works out around £180 or so to amend on my current order, but would just be a case of is there any knockon effects / need to upgrade anything else to cope with it?
