Internet really slow??

So, had this PC about 8 months now, pretty good build however very recently started having trouble with slow internet speeds, getting like 1-4 MB/s.

If I connect my laptop to the same ethernet cable it gets 35-50 MB/s.

Not sure what the issue is, tried so many different things; windows restore to when it was fine, reinstalled drivers, cleaned the PC of files and inside of the case. Tried different guides online nothing has worked and have no idea what to do.

Did read somewhere that a faulty motherboard could be the issue to this but not sure if that's a thing or not, just adding that I did have to RMA the GPU after I received the PC as it stopped working too.

Please help.

You say the problem '...recently started...' so what changed recently? Have you upgraded Windows 10 to the next version recently? Has Windows Update installed new drivers? Have you changed or added hardware? Have you changed or added software? Have you changed any network configurations?

Are you using WiFi or Ethernet? If you're using WiFi can you temporarily connect to the router via an Ethernet cable and see how the speeds are then? That will either eliminate or indicate whether WiFi is the issue.

Are you absolutely certain that the restore point you restored to was when it was fine - it's entirely possible that whatever the problem is was still there in that restore point.

It is possible this is a hardware fault but we're a long long way for that at the moment. The massively overwhelming percentage of problems like this turn out to be software/driver/config issues.

Haven't changed anything major other than installing a few extra games but all from credible sources such as steam etc. I connect via ethernet to the router. I connect my laptop via wifi and that pulls better speeds than my PC.. I'm not certain the restore point was fine so my next step is a complete fresh install of windows and see what happens.

A clean install is a great idea. I would suggest you choose a custom install and delete all the UEFI partitions on your system drive (System/EFI, Recovery, Reserved/MSR, Primary/Windows) so that all that space shows as unallocated space. Highlight that unallocated space and click the Next button, the installer will create the appropriate partition structure and install Windows. Once Windows is installed run Windows Update repeatedly until no more updates are found - this will (should) install all the right drivers (especially the networking ones).

Just fresh installed windows, completely wiped all old partitions. Done all windows updates and installed nothing else apart from Google Chrome and this is my speedtest results - https://prnt.sc/q9srnf High ping aswell, this spikes up and down, even goes to like 1500 sometimes when playing games lol.

Have you made any config changes in your router? Can you try plugging your Ethernet cable into a different port on the router? It would also be worth trying a different Ethernet cable - and make sure it's at least a Cat5 rated cable, Cat6 would be better and a decent quality cable too.

Haven't touched the router at all. Tried a different ethernet cable and no change. Any idea why my WIFI adapter no longer works? Has the orange triangle on device manager but can't seem to find a driver for it that enables it to work.

I'm very surprised that Windows Update didn't find a driver for that. If you remove the WiFi card does that affect the Ethernet speed?

I'm wondering whether the WiFi card is dud and is affecting the networking somehow?

Do you know what adapter that is?
